The Government of Greenland is seeking a visionary and strategic principal for Inuili, who can drive professional development and create success for the vocational school sector in Greenland. Principal of the Food College Inuili – Greenland Food College Do you want to help create success for the vocational education sector in Greenland? At Inuili, a team full of skilled, dedicated, and innovative people is working to establish the foundation for the future of food education, and for that, we need a visionary, strategically minded, and competent principal with strong interpersonal as well as organizational and administrative skills.
As the principal of Inuili, you will be responsible for collaborating with the other management and staff from the school to drive the academic development in a direction that supports the policy adopted by the Naalakkersuisut, and to focus on creating educational programs in some of the areas where society currently faces structural challenges.
You will also be responsible for an engaged, loving but also vulnerable staff group that is passionate about the school, about the school's development, about their students, and works purposefully to support each individual student in the best possible way, whether personally, socially, or academically.
The employees at the school all have a strong will to develop, teach, but also educate themselves, and you must therefore ensure that the school is a safe workplace for everyone, where respect, professionalism, integrity, and humor are paramount.

We are therefore looking for a director who has the following qualifications: Experience in management and personnel administration, preferably with a relevant leadership education, and who can see themselves in the systemic leadership style.

Insight and broad experience from the food industry – preferably solid industry knowledge

Has strong administrative and financial skills, and is well-versed in economics, financial management, and budgeting.

Is outgoing, visible, robust, and clear in the management of independent, professionally specialized educators, and can create direction, engagement, and followership among employees.

Knowledge of Greenlandic conditions with a minimum of 5 years residing here in recent years (Greenland) and bilingual.

Is able to engage broadly and set ambitious, realistic, and qualified goals, and follow up on these to ensure continued progress and development.

Is collaboration-oriented and can build strong relationships both internally and externally, and takes the lead in creating a good working environment.

Has a strong communicative and strategic sense that can help ensure decisions are anchored in the organization.

Is adaptable and willing to create development and find solutions, and lead the way when it gets urgent.

Is structured, has great commitment and overview, and can juggle many tasks at once while being solution-oriented and ready for development.
At the same time, you should also have a flair for politics – you will be leading a politically governed organization, where the attention to your area will steadily increase in the coming years, and you must therefore be ready to advise the Naalakkersuisut on questions raised by them within your field.

It is a great responsibility you have to take on, but in return, you will have a job where no two days are the same, and where you contribute to making a huge impact on the education sector. Your daily life will be characterized by juggling many diverse tasks that you need to help catch. There will be demands ranging from the Department and the political committee at one end to professional and personnel issues at the other end.
Employment conditions
The position is currently classified as corresponding to 38. The salary with fixed salary components and personal pension contributions in LR 38 amounts to DKK 67,121 monthly and DKK 805,452 annually as of April 1, 2025.
Employment will initially be on collective agreement terms. Where the applicant is already a civil servant under the civil servant laws for public Greenland, employment may occur on civil servant terms.
For the position, there is no maximum length of service established, and the provisions regarding compensation for overtime and the provisions regarding compensation for lost days off do not apply. The working hours are, as a rule, 40 hours per week.
Salary and employment conditions, including the right to relocation and moving expenses, in accordance with the collective agreement in force at the time of commencement between the Government of Greenland and the relevant negotiating organization.
Housing
A service apartment is provided for the principal according to applicable regulations. If an applicant already has staff housing through employment in the Self-Government, the right to the assigned service apartment is retained. The service apartment is linked to the employment relationship and must be vacated upon the termination of the employment relationship.
Housing cannot be allocated to individuals residing in the city who already have a staff housing or another property owned by the municipality or the Government of Greenland.
Rent and deposit are paid according to the applicable rules for the designated housing. The staff accommodation is linked to the employment relationship and must be vacated upon termination of the employment relationship.
Rent and housing standards may vary depending on the age of the property, ownership conditions, etc. There may be a waiting period for the allocation of permanent staff housing, which is why temporary accommodation may occur, including in smaller housing communities or hotel apartments, for which taxation applies.
