PhD Student at Ilisimatusarfik

Position as a PhD student at Ilisimatusarfik. Available for appointment from September 1 or as soon as possible by agreement. Associated with the research project EPIC, which examines Greenlandic school students' relationship with climate change. The project is funded by the Danish Independent Research Fund and led by Professor Benedikte Brincker.

Position as a PhD student at Ilisimatusarfik Are you interested in a research career with a fully funded PhD program? There is currently an open PhD position at the Department of Learning, Ilisimatusarfik.

The position is available for occupancy from September 1 or as soon as possible by agreement.

The position is associated with the research project: Experiences and Perceptions of Climate Change: A View of the Next Generation (EPIC). The project examines Greenlandic school students' relationship with climate change and to what extent climate change figures in the teaching - for example in teaching materials and activities. In addressing the question of how Greenlandic school students experience and perceive climate change, the research project is based on a collaboration between the University of Copenhagen, the University of Greenland (Ilisimatusarfik), the Greenland Institute of Natural Resources (Pinngortitaleriffik), and UNICEF Greenland.

The project is funded by the Danish Independent Research Fund (DFF) (5345-00021B) and is led by P.I. Professor Benedikte Brincker, University of Copenhagen and adjunct professor Ilisimatusarfik, Co-P.I. Lecturer Lars Demant Poort, Institute of Learning, Ilisimatusarfik and Co-P.I. Assistant Professor Mitdlarak Lennert, Institute of Society, Economy and Journalism, Ilisimatusarfik.

  • We expect that you: Have a graduate degree at the master's level in pedagogy or social sciences.
  • Has knowledge of Greenlandic and/or Arctic conditions
  • Can make you understandable in Greenlandic, Danish, and English.
  • Furthermore, the requirements to be enrolled as a PhD student are met.

  • To gain in-depth knowledge of social science and interdisciplinary research
  • To gain firsthand experience with data collection, including the use of child panels.
  • A fully funded doctoral education

The employment period for the PhD scholarship position is 3 years, and there is a requirement for residence in Greenland.

About Ilisimatusarfik

Ilisimatusarfik, Greenland's University, was established in 1987 and currently offers 13 different programs, including options for part-time studies at both diploma and master's levels. About the Joint Administration

The Joint Administration serves the entire university. It is led by the university director. The Joint Administration has departments in Ilimmarfik. The departments work closely with the academic units, but also collaborate with each other. The tasks of the Joint Administration include: student administration, personnel administration, servicing the board and the Academic Council, as well as other service functions for the university's employees and students. The Joint Administration is also responsible for the building operations of Ilimmarfik.

Salary and employment conditions

Salary and employment conditions, including the right to travel for joining and leaving, as well as relocation of personal belongings, in accordance with the agreement/collective agreement in force at the time of commencement between the Government of Greenland and the relevant negotiating organization.

For an applicant with the right documentable competencies, employment as a special consultant, chief consultant, or senior advisor can take place in accordance with the applicable collective agreement.

Housing

No staff housing is provided for the position. If an applicant already has staff housing through employment in the Self-Government, the right to the assigned staff housing is retained. The staff housing is linked to the employment relationship and must be vacated upon the termination of the employment relationship.
