Do you have experience coordinating tasks and helping others achieve their goals – preferably within the education sector? Do you thrive on motivating people to reach new goals in collaboration with competent colleagues? If so, the position of Education Coordinator in the Greenland Prison Service might be for you.

The correctional service in Greenland, in collaboration with the Danish Prison and Probation Service, the Western Prison District, and the Office for Education and Competence Development, will develop and implement a new prison officer training program in Greenland. The project is prioritized in the criminal reform and multi-year agreement for the economy of the Danish Prisons, which a broad majority in the Parliament agreed upon in 2025.

In 2025, a review of the current training for prison officers was conducted. Based on that review and the subsequent recommendations, the new training coordinator will contribute to the implementation of a new training program starting in Q4 2027. Once the new training is implemented, you will assist in strengthening the collaboration between the student, the internship supervisor, and the instructors, thereby ensuring that the students complete their training.

About the role of education coordinator

We expect you, as the education coordinator, to take responsibility for the development, implementation, and anchoring of a new education in collaboration with the employed project manager in Denmark, and to ensure that recommendations and decisions are translated into concrete deliveries, including, among other things:

  • Contribute to establishing governance and frameworks for the development and implementation of the education.
  • Contribute to ensuring progress, defining deliverables and milestones.
  • Contribute to the development of recruitment and admission frameworks, including criteria and screening models.
  • Support the development and implementation of bilingual education (Danish/Greenlandic)
  • Support culturally adapted teaching and teaching materials that reflect Greenlandic conditions, traditions, and values.
  • Contribute to developing content in the internship supervisor education in the Prison and Probation Service in Greenland.

In addition, as an education coordinator, you must continuously maintain contact with internship supervisors and facility managers at the institutions in Greenland, and contribute to ensuring that the students acquire the necessary competencies during their internship periods.

The education coordinator must therefore coordinate and collaborate at different levels. Therefore, we also think that you can:

  • Coordinate, establish clear workflows, fixed structures, annual cycles.
  • Ensure systematic follow-up and documentation
  • Continue to be a link between management and daily practice.
  • Coordinate the collaboration between educators in Greenland and Denmark.
  • Build and maintain structures for internship guidance at all institutions.
  • Collaboration with facility managers and internship supervisors regarding students' progress, well-being, and academic development.

To succeed, you must be able to thrive in a role with many interfaces, stakeholders, and practical tasks in a political landscape with many stakeholders and a lot of focus.

Education of students takes place in collaboration.

You are referring to the HR manager at the Head Office in Nuuk, but you will need to collaborate with many different colleagues. This includes, among others, the rest of the management in the Correctional Service in Greenland, the project manager from the office for education and skills development, as well as instructors from Denmark.

We offer a workplace in development, where you will help create success in the prison officer training program with skilled, collaborative colleagues and staff.

You should expect travel activity across Greenland.
