Team Leader for Education

The Government of Greenland is seeking a visionary team leader for the Social Pedagogical Seminar. The position requires a relevant educational background, leadership experience, and bilingualism. As a team leader, you will be part of the team management, where there will be opportunities for leadership and interdisciplinary collaboration between the various departments and strategic management.

The Social Pedagogical Seminar (PI/SPS) has departments in Ilulissat and Nuuk, with its main office in Ilulissat. The seminar has around 50 employees and approximately 300 students across eight programs.

The programs include: the daycare assistant education, the social worker education, the social assistant education, the professional bachelor's degree in social pedagogy, the pedagogical assistant education, the counseling assistant education, the advisor in social work, and the pedagogical diploma education.

The team leader will focus on, among other things, higher education and professional academy programs.

  • PI/SPS covers all of Greenland with the following essential areas of function: to educate qualified social pedagogical staff
  • to conduct education and courses within social and pedagogical fields and social work
  • to inspire development in the social pedagogical sector – professionally and educationally.

  • The team leader is responsible for, among other things: daily operations of education, including internship programs and educational facilities.
  • professionalism in the education programs and the pedagogical elements in the curricula
  • teaching and internship programs, tests and examinations according to applicable study regulations
  • coordination of teaching plans
  • economy within budgeted frameworks
  • personnel matters, such as well-being, hiring attitudes, and professional development of educators in the team
  • a close management of the instructors and monitors the students' well-being and development, including ensuring early follow-up on concerning absenteeism patterns and supporting student retention.
  • to help ensure a good and healthy working environment through collaboration across departments

  • The team leader will collaborate with the instructors in the team on the planning of teaching and development initiatives.
  • team leader for vocational education and the course department regarding general study and teaching conditions, interdisciplinary collaboration, as well as progression and coherence between the various educational programs
  • the team leaders in the other departments regarding educational facilities and practical matters related to the educational environment locally in Ilulissat and Nuuk
  • strategic management in relation to, among other things, quality assurance of the education programs and various development projects

  • The following professional and personal competencies are highly valued: That you have a relevant educational background at least at the master's or graduate level.
  • that you are bilingual and can communicate fluently in both Greenlandic and Danish.
  • That you have leadership experience, preferably within team leadership and trust-based management.
  • That you are trustworthy, responsible, and have a appreciative approach.
  • That you enjoy having many balls in the air and are skilled at maintaining calm and overview during busy periods.
  • That you have good administrative and IT skills.

Salary and employment conditions

Salary and employment conditions, including the right to travel for joining and leaving and relocation of personal belongings, in accordance with the agreement/collective agreement in force at the time of commencement between the Government of Greenland and the relevant negotiating organization.

For an applicant with the right documentable competencies, employment as a special consultant, chief consultant, or senior advisor may occur in accordance with the applicable agreement.

Housing

An unfurnished staff housing can be assigned to the position according to the applicable rules at any given time. Housing cannot be assigned to individuals who already have staff housing or another property owned by the municipality or the Government of Greenland. Rent and deposit are paid according to the applicable rules for the assigned housing. The staff housing is linked to the employment relationship and must be vacated upon termination of the employment relationship.

Rent and housing standards may vary depending on the age of the property, ownership conditions, etc. There may be a waiting period for the allocation of permanent staff housing, which is why temporary accommodation may occur, including in smaller co-housing communities or hotel apartments, for which taxation applies. It is not possible to keep larger pets, such as dogs or cats, in staff or temporary housing.
