The school has approximately 334 students, 18 classes from 1st to 10th grade, 5 special classes, and AKT offerings. There are about 40 teachers associated with the school.

Atuarfik Kilaaseeraq is a school in development – both human, academic, and physical. The school is in the midst of a comprehensive renovation leading up to 2027, and classes are currently taking place in various temporary teaching environments around Maniitsoq.

We believe that good teaching makes a difference. At Atuarfik Kilaaseeraq, we see the teacher as much more than a subject expert. The teacher is an important adult in the students' daily lives and a central part of the community that the school is built upon. Therefore, relationships mean a lot to us – both between teacher and student, among colleagues, and in collaboration with the homes.

We believe that students develop best when they are met by clear adults, academic ambitions, humor, and care. At the same time, we believe that teaching becomes stronger when it is based on students' interests, culture, and experiences from life outside of school. Therefore, we actively work to create connections between school life, leisure life, and the local community.

Maniitsoq is a town with a strong recreational and sports life, and the school continuously collaborates with associations, activities, and local actors. We want teachers who are eager to engage in this work and help create a school where children and young people experience a connection between teaching, community, and everyday life.

We also want a school culture where management and staff work closely together on both everyday challenges and the school's development. An important pedagogical focus area at the school is a strong school-home collaboration and clear agreements with parents regarding the students' school life.

We work, among other things, with:

• strengthening of reading, mathematics, and foreign languages,
• team collaboration and joint preparation,
• clear class leadership,
• and teaching that makes sense for the students.
• The teaching is organized with a focus on both professionalism and well-being, and we emphasize that teachers have time for collaboration and preparation.

Atuarfik Kilaaseeraq is undergoing a comprehensive renovation in recent years due to previous issues with mold in the buildings.

The goal is not just new premises, but a school with good and humane conditions where children and young people can thrive, learn, and develop well into the future.

The teaching is therefore temporarily taking place at several locations in the city:

• The youngest grade is located in Maliina.
• The middle school is located in Majoriaq.
• The senior class is located in the Mini College.
• The special classes are located in the Club.

It presents challenges in everyday life – but also a strong collegial community and the opportunity to help shape the future school in Maniitsoq.

We are currently looking for 3-4 teachers who want to help create a safe, professional, and vibrant school day – especially in the early years and middle grades. Also, a guidance teacher in special education.

We are particularly looking for teachers with an interest in:

• class teacher function,
• Danish
• English,
• Greenlandic,
• mathematics,
• and physics in 8th grade
• and the close collaboration regarding the students' everyday life and well-being.

We would also very much like to hear from teachers with other subject profiles who can see themselves in the school's values and way of working.

Maniitsoq is a town with strong communities, an active leisure life, and magnificent nature. In recent years, the town has been characterized by development and investments in both residential areas, leisure offerings, and the school sector.

There are good opportunities for:

• leisure activities and community life,
• hiking and sailing trips in the Greenlandic nature,
• skiing and outdoor life,
• as well as a close and vibrant local community.

Salary and employment conditions are in accordance with the applicable agreement on employment under special fixed-term conditions (www.imak.gl), including the right to free travel and relocation of personal belongings.

The employment period is set to a minimum of 3 years with the possibility of extension.

There will be available staff housing for which a deposit and rent are paid according to applicable regulations. If permanent housing cannot be provided upon commencement, temporary vacant housing will be offered according to applicable regulations.
