Office Manager for the Interpretation Office in the Self-Government

The Interpretation Office in the Self-Government is seeking a new office manager to lead the central interpreting unit. You will be responsible for the daily management of 12 interpreters, coordination and quality assurance of tasks, as well as the development of the office's strategic direction. Experience with translation and simultaneous interpretation between Greenlandic and Danish is required.

Office Manager for the Interpretation Office in the Self-Government The Interpretation Office in the Self-Government is seeking a new professionally strong and organizationally skilled office manager who can lead the self-government's central interpretation unit. The Interpretation Office handles interpreting and translation tasks in the central administration of the Self-Government, including simultaneous interpretation. Most translations occur between Greenlandic and Danish, e.g., legislative proposals, presentations to the Naalakkersuisut, larger reports, materials for meetings in the Inatsisartut, as well as incoming and outgoing correspondence from departments and agencies. Translations are also done between English and Greenlandic, and the office provides simultaneous interpretation to and from Greenlandic at meetings, conferences, etc.

As the office manager, you will be responsible for the daily professional leadership of 12 interpreters, as well as the coordination and quality assurance of the unit's tasks. At the same time, you will work with the top management to represent the Interpreting Office externally and set the strategic direction for the office's development. An important part of the task will be to strengthen the Interpreting Office as a continuously attractive workplace and ensure ongoing professional development of the employees.

You must also help ensure that employees continuously have the relevant technological tools developed for interpreting work. The office has a digital translator system that has led to a new organization of the interpreters' work.

  • In addition to the tasks already mentioned, you must also: Prioritize the tasks in collaboration with management and relevant departments and agencies.
  • Ensure internal quality control of translations and interpretations
  • Develop and maintain professional standards, terminology, and workflows
  • Participate in or oversee particularly complex translation and interpretation tasks.
  • Ensure good collaboration internally in the Interpretation Office and with the unit's users in the central administration.
  • We expect that you Are a trained interpreter or have equivalent qualifications
  • Has solid experience in translation between Greenlandic and Danish, and has experience in simultaneous interpreting and/or quality assurance of interpreting and translation tasks.
  • Can plan, prioritize, and create an overview of many simultaneous tasks.
  • Works in a structured manner, responsibly, and with high professional integrity.
  • Can provide professional sparring and constructive feedback.
  • Has good collaboration skills even in pressured situations.
  • Has an interest in digitization, terminology management, and the development of efficient workflows.

It is an advantage if you have leadership experience or experience with professional coordination, project management, quality assurance, or development of language processes.

Salary and employment conditions

The position is currently salary-fixed corresponding to 36. The salary with fixed salary components and personal pension contributions in LR 36 amounts to DKK 57,531 monthly and DKK 690,372 annually as of April 1, 2026.

Employment will initially be on collective agreement terms; if the applicant is already a civil servant under the civil service laws for public Greenland, employment may occur on civil servant terms.

Salary and employment conditions, including the right to relocation and moving expenses upon hiring and termination, in accordance with the collective agreement applicable at the time of commencement between the Government of Greenland and the relevant negotiating organization. Civil servants in the state and employees under a number of AC agreements, including the agreement between DJØF and the Ministry of Finance, are entitled to unpaid leave in connection with employment under the Government of Greenland. The Ministry of Interior has also urged municipalities and regions to be accommodating towards applications for unpaid leave in connection with employment under the Government of Greenland. The provisions regarding unpaid leave also cover spouses/partners of individuals employed under the Government of Greenland.

The working hours are initially 40 hours per week, and there is a availability obligation of 320 hours annually and 80 hours per quarter associated with the position, and the provisions for compensation for lost days off do not apply.
