The Tax Agency is seeking a tax auditor for the control of duties in Nuuk. The position involves monitoring taxable activities, financial crime, and money laundering. You will work with data and accounts, and there may be travel activities in Greenland. Qualifications in customs and tax law or accounting are an advantage.
The Tax Agency is seeking a tax auditor for the Tax Agency's office in Nuuk. In the office for Customs and Taxes, we are looking for a colleague for a newly created position for the control of taxes.
The Customs and Excise Office is responsible for administrative and control tasks related to the import and export of goods, including import duties and customs control. The Tax Agency aims to strengthen the control of the shadow economy and money laundering, as well as to increase efforts against illegal imports and exports, including drugs. Finally, there is also a desire for more targeted control of other excise areas, including port and cruise passenger taxes.
The Customs and Excise Office is staffed with 14 employees, of which 10 employees handle the control of traveling air passengers, air freight, mail and shipping consignments, as well as administrative tasks related to customs duties. 4 employees handle managerial and administrative tasks related to customs and excise duties.
The office has employees in Nuuk, Ilulissat, Qaqortoq, and Aalborg.

What will your role be in the office? Control and assessment of taxable activities.

Special control cases related to economic crime and money laundering.

Guidance for businesses and citizens.

Processing of cases regarding tax exemption.

Administrative and control tasks related to customs and tax matters

Collaboration with the collection authority, the finance department, and the police.
You will be working with data and accounts for both self-employed individuals and companies.
Depending on the nature of the inspections, there will be outgoing visits, including travel activities in Greenland.
The control will involve activities in the form of decisions and case presentations, which is why it is important that you can work independently and have good communication skills in writing and speaking, preferably also in English.
You should also expect to take part in the usual administrative tasks that ensure we can continuously serve businesses and citizens.

Qualifications and Competence Knowledge and experience in customs and tax law or accounting (from a similar position) is a great advantage, but if you are a recent graduate with a degree such as a professional bachelor's, HD, or master's in economics, accounting, auditing, law, or similar education, we also look forward to hearing from you.

You may also have experience from another public authority where you handle legislation and provide oral and written responses.

You possess a natural authority, are good at communicating and engaging in dialogue with others, work well both in groups and independently, and have strong collaboration skills.

You are good at using the Microsoft suite and quick to familiarize yourself with new systems.

Salary and employment conditions
Salary and employment conditions, including the right to travel for joining and leaving, in accordance with the agreement/collective agreement in force at the time of commencement between the Government of Greenland and the relevant negotiating organization.
For a candidate with the right skills, employment can be offered as a special consultant, chief consultant, or senior advisor.
Housing
No staff housing is provided for the positions. If an applicant already has staff housing through employment in the Self-Government, the right to assigned staff housing is retained.
