Caseworker for Newly Established Department of Law and Disability

The Department of Health and Persons with Disabilities is seeking an employee for the newly established Department of Law and Disability. The position can be filled by both applicants with a legal background and applicants with experience as caseworkers. The tasks will be adapted to your professional profile, but you will be part of the same task community as the rest of the department.

About us

The Department of Health and People with Disabilities is the highest authority in the area. We work to ensure the Naalakkersuisut has a solid decision-making basis and to develop the framework for the health and disability sector throughout the country.

The new department for Law and Disability consists of employees with experience in health law, disability law, counseling, case management, operational tasks, as well as cross-sector collaborations in both the health and disability areas. We emphasize professionalism, collaboration, and a good working environment, where there is room for both sparring and independence. You will have the opportunity to influence both your own tasks and the development of the department.

Your tasks

  • You will have a broad portfolio of tasks within both law and the disability sector. Examples of tasks: Case processing in the disability area, including investigation, assessment, and preparation of cases.
  • Preparation of notes, reports, and decision proposals for management and the Naalakkersuisut.
  • Ministerial support, including contributions to responses to § 37 questions, speeches, and presentations.
  • Cross-sector collaboration with municipalities, agencies, and other stakeholders.
  • Contribution to the development of policies and initiatives in the disability sector.
  • Participation in the development of guidelines, processes, and internal policies.
  • Participation in collaboration with Pissassarfik, disability associations, Tilioq, the municipalities, and Nordic cooperation forums.
  • If you have a legal education, you will also receive the following supplementary tasks: Preparation and revision of legislation in the entire healthcare sector as well as legislation in the area of disabilities.
  • Administrative legal assessments.
  • Legal advice to management and other units.
  • Conduct supervision in the alcohol sector.
  • Quality assurance of legal documents and decision-making basis.
  • We expect that you have relevant education, e.g., as a Master of Laws, Bachelor of Laws, professional bachelor's degree, administrative bachelor's degree, or other relevant background as a caseworker.
  • Has an interest in working in a politically governed organization.
  • Can work in a structured and independent manner, but also thrive in interdisciplinary collaborations.
  • Is good at communicating complex issues clearly and understandably.
  • I want to work with both law, case processing, and development tasks.
  • Is curious, cooperative, and eager to learn new things.

It is an advantage if you have experience in public administration or knowledge of the health or disability sector, but it is not a requirement.

The position can be filled as an associate, specialist consultant, or chief consultant depending on qualifications.

Salary and employment conditions

Salary and employment conditions, including the right to relocation and moving expenses, in accordance with the agreement/collective agreement in force at the time of commencement between the Government of Greenland and the relevant negotiating organization.

Housing

An unfurnished staff housing can be assigned to the position according to the applicable rules at any given time. Housing cannot be assigned to individuals who already have staff housing or another property owned by the municipality or the Government of Greenland. Rent and deposit are paid according to the applicable rules for the assigned housing. The staff housing is linked to the employment relationship and must be vacated upon termination of the employment relationship.

Rent and housing standards may vary depending on the age of the property, ownership conditions, etc. There may be a waiting period for the allocation of permanent staff housing, which is why temporary accommodation may occur, including in smaller housing communities or hotel apartments, for which taxation applies. It is not possible to keep larger pets, such as dogs or cats, in staff or temporary housing.
