Social Worker

Qeqertarsuaq is seeking a social worker for the social department, starting June 1, 2026, or by agreement. You will work in a team with other caseworkers and handle various applications from citizens. Qualifications include experience in the social field and financial case management.

Are you interested in contributing to one of the municipality's core services for citizens in need? Municipality Qeqertalik Qeqertarsuaq is seeking a social worker in the social department to be employed from June 1, 2026, or by further agreement.

You will join a team with other caseworkers in the social department where the department head will be your immediate supervisor. The employment entails that the many diverse tasks of the social area are handled by everyone in collaboration with each other, and that it is expected that there will be social duty tasks.

Work and areas of responsibility will include:

  • Case processing of various applications from citizens received in the social department.
  • Be involved in ensuring that all financial conditions and business procedures are closely followed in the area, according to applicable laws.

·Assessment and analysis of the citizen's financial situation according to the regulation in the specific and various areas

Advising citizens regarding their financial situation

·Develop action plans in close collaboration with the citizen

·Emergency case processing for citizens who require urgent assistance

·Assist and share responsibility for case processing in other matters in the social department

Qualifications:

·Social worker education, counseling assistant education, HK education supplemented by professional courses in social law, or social helper education supplemented by professional courses in social law or willingness to take such courses. Or has experience in case management within the social area.

Has experience in child, youth, and family case management.

Experience with financial case processing in the social sector.

·Systematic, reliable, role model according to the requirements of decorum.

Good at citizen contact and communication.

Psychological resilience is a requirement for being able to hold the job.

Salary and employment conditions:

Salary and employment conditions are in accordance with the collective agreement applicable at the time of commencement.

Criminal and child certificate:

This position is subject to the law requiring the collection of criminal and child certificates. According to the law, employment can only begin once the municipality has received satisfactory criminal and child certificates. We would therefore like to point out that the start date can only be agreed upon once the municipality has received the child certificate from the National Police, as well as the criminal record from the Police.

The child certificate is obtained by the municipality with the consent of the individual, while the criminal record is obtained by the individual from the police.

Housing:

A staff housing option can be provided for the position, for which a deposit and rent, utilities, etc. will be paid according to the current rules for rent payment in the properties of the Greenland Self-Government and the municipality in Greenland. If a permanent staff residence cannot be made available immediately upon commencement, employees entitled to a vacation residence will be offered a temporary vacation residence, for which A-tax on benefits in kind will be paid in accordance with applicable legislation.

OR The start date is dependent on when a staff housing is available. A relocation travel allowance and moving of personal belongings will be provided in accordance with applicable regulations.

A staff housing must be vacated upon the termination of the employment relationship.
