Public Caseworker

The Municipality of Qeqertalik is seeking a social caseworker for the Department of Social Affairs in Qeqertarsuaq. The position involves case management related to public assistance and financial counseling for citizens. Employment starts from June 1, 2026, or by agreement. Housing and relocation travel are offered. The application deadline is May 26, 2026.

Would you like to help uphold the municipality's responsibility to assist citizens in need? Municipality Qeqertalik, Qeqertarsuaq, the Department of Social Affairs is seeking a social worker for employment starting June 1, 2026, or by agreement.

You will be part of a team of employees in the administration and report to the area manager. The position includes many different tasks that are solved in collaboration with colleagues, and participation in the social duty scheme is expected. The main task is case processing within public assistance. It should be clearly stated in the application which position you are applying for.

Areas of work and areas of responsibility:

  • Processing of citizens' various applications received in the administration.
  • Conducting financial investigations and ensuring correct decisions in accordance with applicable regulations.
  • Assessment of the citizen's financial situation in relation to relevant areas of legislation.
  • Financial advice for citizens.
  • Preparation of action plans in close collaboration with the citizen.
  • Handling of urgent requests for assistance.
  • Participation and shared responsibility in other tasks in the administration.

Qualifications:

  • Education as a social worker, advisory assistant, HK with courses in social legislation, social helper with courses in social legislation or willingness to take such courses. Alternatively, experience with similar tasks in the administration.
  • Experience with financial case management in social administration.
  • Ability to prioritize, be reliable, engaged, responsible, and able to function as a role model.
  • Good communication skills and ability to talk with citizens.
  • Robustness and mental strength.

Salary and employment conditions: Employment is in accordance with the applicable agreement between the Government of Greenland and the relevant trade union.

Criminal record:

This position is subject to the law requiring a criminal record check. According to the law, employment can only begin once the municipality has received a criminal record. We would therefore like to point out that the start date can only be agreed upon once the municipality has received the criminal record from the Police.

Housing:

A staff housing option will be available for the position, for which a deposit and rent, utilities, etc. will be paid according to the current rules for rent payment in the properties of the Greenland Self-Government and the municipality in Greenland. If a permanent staff residence cannot be made available immediately upon commencement, employees entitled to a vacant residence will be offered a temporary vacant residence, for which A-tax will be paid for benefits in kind in accordance with applicable legislation.

OR The start date is dependent on when a staff accommodation becomes available. A relocation journey and moving of personal belongings will be provided in accordance with applicable regulations.

A staff housing must be vacated upon the termination of the employment relationship.
