Director of Administration for the INUIT Area

Municipality of Qeqertalik is seeking a director for the INUIT area for a central leadership position responsible for operations, development, authority, finance, and political servicing. The position is based in Aasiaat and covers the municipality's 4 towns and 8 villages. You will lead a new administration focused on the elderly, disabilities, children, youth, and the labor market.

We are seeking a head of administration for the INUIT area for a central management position reporting to the municipal director. The position is based in Aasiaat and covers the municipality's 4 towns and 8 settlements. You will have overall responsibility for operations, development, authority, finance, and political servicing in the Inuit area and will lead a new administration with clear leadership and high professional quality. Here, you will have both a strategic management space and a daily life close to nature, community, and responsibility.

Central chef role

Reference to the municipal director and close collaboration with the political level.

Management responsibility

Head of administration for a management team with 1 department head in the social area and 1 department head for Majoriaq.

Professional field

Elderly and disability, children and youth, external units, family centers as well as Majoriaq, the labor market, and MISI.

Geography

Resident applicants can hold the position based in one of the municipality's four towns and with responsibility across the entire municipality.

You will be responsible for that.

·overall management of the Inuit administration with responsibility for operations, development, authority, finance, and political servicing

·management of the central leadership group with 2 department heads

·development and coordination of the Inuit area across elderly and disability, children and youth, external units, family centers, MISI, Majoriaq, and the labor market

·ensuring lawful and timely exercise of authority as well as quality in case processing and administrative practices

the overall and overarching responsibility for the management's economy, financial management, and reporting

·political service through qualified case presentations, proposals, and follow-up

We imagine that you

·has solid management experience and a good insight into authority work and relevant legislation in the Inuit area

·has experience from a politically governed organization, preferably municipal

can navigate safely between professional development, operations, authorities, finance, and political servicing

can lead through other leaders and create followership in an organization under construction

·works in a structured manner and has an eye for both the whole and the local reality across cities and towns

It is an advantage if you can communicate in Greenlandic and Danish, and preferably also in English.

In Greenland, nature is a part of everyday life. When the workday ends, leisure time can include dog sledding, sailing, snowmobiling, fishing, hiking, northern lights, and midnight sun.

The practical

The position reports to the municipal director and is part of the municipality's management team.

The workplace is Aasiaat, but the responsibility covers the entire municipality.

Travel activity in the municipality is to be expected as needed.

Salary placement at department manager level 1 according to the management agreement between the Self-Government and the municipalities.

This is a managerial position with both responsibility, vision, and experiences.

Criminal record:

This position is subject to the law requiring a criminal record check. According to the law, employment can only begin once the municipality has received a criminal record. We would therefore like to point out that the start date can only be agreed upon once the municipality has received the criminal record from the police.

Housing:

A staff housing option will be available for the position, for which a deposit and rent, as well as utilities, will be paid according to the current rules for rent payment in the properties of the Greenland Self-Government and the municipality in Greenland. If permanent staff accommodation cannot be made available immediately upon commencement, employees entitled to temporary accommodation will be offered a temporary vacant property, for which A-tax will be paid for benefits in kind in accordance with applicable legislation.

A staff residence must be vacated upon the termination of the employment relationship.
