The family center in Sisimiut Qeqqata Municipality is looking for home helpers.

The family center in Sisimiut is looking for home helpers who can start on July 1, 2026, or by agreement.

About the job/family center:

The Family Center in Qeqqata Municipality mainly works with trauma from incidents such as sexual abuse, violence, neglect, and suicide. The task of the Family Center is to ensure that families are supported and helped to move forward after such incidents. In addition, the Family Center also has preventive initiatives, where the family is supported from pregnancy onwards. Current staff includes 2 environmental workers, a social pedagogue, 2 home helpers, a coordinator for family guidance, as well as a social worker, a coordinator/early intervention in Manu, and a manager. To strengthen the Family Center's goal of being an interdisciplinary, treatment-oriented center, we are seeking a coordinator for family guidance to join the team.

Special case processing has been initiated at the Family Center, where measures have been started for children being taken home after being placed outside the home and to avoid placement outside the home; therefore, we are looking for home caregivers.

The tasks of the home helpers in the Family Center are as follows:

We can offer

• Individuals referred from the Welfare Department are being treated.
• Support families in the retrieval of placed children.
• Emergency assistance for families at risk of having their children placed outside the home.
• Family in need of help with raising children.
• Guided family to a better life.
• Early intervention with children and young people's needs as the starting point.
• Participation for assistance after loss.
• Participation in open counseling.

We emphasize:

• Educated as a social worker or further education in family counseling, or trained as an educator.
• Is welcoming and able to establish a trusting connection with those who come to the Family Center.
• Values an interdisciplinary collaborative environment where different perspectives come into play.
• Able to work independently and in teams.
• Being bilingual in Greenlandic and Danish is an advantage, but not a requirement.

Salary and employment conditions

This position is subject to the law on the obligation to obtain a child certificate. According to the law, employment can only begin once the Municipality has obtained a child certificate.

The child certificate will be part of the municipality's assessment of who is hired for the position.

Salary and employment conditions are primarily based on the collective agreement between Qeqqata Municipality and the negotiating organization.

Housing can be provided for the position, for which payment is made according to applicable regulations.
