Museum seeks Service Economist specializing in tourism in Sisimiut. You will coordinate the museum's guests, manage cruise tourists' entrance tickets, and assist with exhibitions. Knowledge of ERP and IT is an advantage. Start date June 1, 2026, or by agreement. Application deadline: May 29, 2026.
Become Sisimiut Museum's new colleague with a flair for communication and as a contact person for upcoming guests to the museum as well as from cruise operators. For you who are interested in culture and social history, enjoy meeting new people, and are good at communication, and for you who want to develop the work of Sisimiut and Kangerlussuaq Museums outwardly. The museum has several partners and is an active partner in the development of the UNESCO World Heritage area Aasivissuit – Nipisat, and phase 2 is about to begin with many interesting projects.
Sisimiut Museum operates under the Inatsisartut law on Greenland's museum system in "Inatsisartut Law No. 8 of June 3, 2015, on the museum system." This includes the purpose of museum work and sets guidelines for grants, other support for local museums in Greenland, as well as the role of the Museum Council.
We are looking for someone who has an overview, is good at coordinating the museum's upcoming guests from various institutions, including small children, young people, and the elderly, as well as being a contact person for cruise tourists.
The museum has a museum guideline aimed at ensuring that employees and guests have a good experience while we take care of Greenland's cultural heritage and protected buildings that are of great importance to the citizens. You, along with your colleagues, should help make Sisimiut Museum a lovely place to visit.
Work and responsibilities
As a service economist, you must serve the museum with:

Service with administrative tasks, recording visitor numbers for the museum, handling inquiries from tour operators, as well as other museum-related tasks, where there is ongoing coordination and invoicing.

Manage cruise tourists' entrance tickets

You will collaborate with other employees to assist in the development, planning, and setup of upcoming exhibitions.

You have a flair for social media and can also communicate the museum's work externally, both on the museum's website and Facebook page.

You will work in collaboration with other staff on electronic registration in SARA for cultural heritage and other museum tasks.
Qualifications
Your qualifications and competencies may be:

You have a relevant education in service economics with a specialization in tourism, culture, and society - or in the educational field.

It would be an advantage - but not a requirement - if you are passionate about cultural heritage or similar cultural areas.

You master Greenlandic or Danish and possibly English.

It would be an advantage if you have knowledge of ERP, IT at the user level, and a flair for information retrieval.

You are good at coordinating, are structured, and responsible.

You are flexible and independent with good collaboration skills.

You are outgoing with good skills in audience engagement.

You find it easy to learn new things and are open to new experiences.

You are easy to get along with, are positive.
Salary and employment conditions
Salary and employment conditions are in accordance with the agreements in force at the time of commencement between the Greenland Home Rule. Housing may be provided for the position. Start date June 1, 2026, or by agreement.
