Swimming Pool Technician

The Municipality of Sermersooq is looking for a skilled and dedicated Swimming Pool Technician for the swimming hall MALIK.

The swimming pool MALIK consists of an inspector and 3 on-duty lifeguards, as well as 22 employees divided into 2 teams - a lifeguard team and a café staff team. The swimming pool MALIK is part of Health & Leisure under the Municipality of Sermersooq. The position is a full-time position, corresponding to a 40-hour work week. It is to be expected that work will be required on weekends, during electrical outages, and during the hours between 10:00 PM and 6:00 AM.

The content of the position:

The technicians must primarily have the necessary professional knowledge and skills regarding the technical swimming pool systems, ventilation systems, and including water treatment and purification of water.

·Competencies in troubleshooting, adjusting, and replacing valves, heat pumps, and ventilation

Control and adjustment of technical equipment and water quality.

·Carry out craft repairs and replacements, e.g. of systems, showers, and toilets. Electrical equipment, etc.

Ordering the appropriate materials.

In collaboration with the inspector responsible for emergency plans, as well as ongoing testing of alarm and emergency plans.

Expectations for applicants:

Has relevant education at the Danish Technological Institute

·Has relevant educational background (first aid, lifeguard test, and training as a lifeguard judge)

We also emphasize:

Knowledge of high-tech swimming facilities

Knowledge of water treatment, water chemistry, and microbiological processes

Knowledge of different pool types

Knowledge of and practical skills related to the use of specific swimming facilities.

Knowledge and practical skills related to the implementation of energy and water-saving systems and technologies.

·That you are stable, quality-conscious, and have an eye for detail

Can handle many balls in the air without losing perspective.

Communicates clearly and distinctly both in writing and verbally.

·Works independently, responsibly, and service-oriented

• Being bilingual in Greenlandic and Danish is an advantage, but not a requirement.

·That you have a type B driver's license

Criminal and Child Certificate:

The position is covered by the law on the obligation to obtain a criminal record and child certificate. According to the law, employment can only begin once the municipality has received a satisfactory criminal record and child certificate. We must therefore point out that the start date can only be agreed upon once the municipality has received the child certificate from the National Police as well as the criminal record from the Police.

The child certificate is obtained by the municipality with the consent of the individual, while the criminal record is obtained by the individual from the police.

Salary and employment conditions:

Salary and employment conditions are in accordance with the applicable agreement between the Government of Greenland, in accordance with the agreement/collective agreement in force at the time of appointment between the Government of Greenland and the relevant negotiating organization.

The employment will be subject to a 3-month probation period.
