Social Worker for Children and Youth

The position of social worker for children and youth in the Family Department of Ilulissat. Desired start date is August 1, 2026, or by further agreement.

The primary tasks are as follows:

·Work on child cases based on the applicable law on support for children.

Preparation of case notes.

Collection of information in connection with cases.

Processing of notifications regarding children.

·Processing of cases regarding support for children and families.

·Social professional investigations.

Conversations with children as well as collaboration and discussions with parents with custody.

Preparation of action plans.

·Handling of urgent child cases.

·Coordination of cases, including referrals, planning of contact between children and parents in connection with placements outside the home, initiation of cases regarding family meetings, case processing related to placements, changes of placement location, and return of children.

Processing of different types of applications.

Evaluation of cases.

Annual supervision of children and young people placed outside the home.

Case processing based on the municipality's authority responsibility.

·Interdisciplinary collaboration regarding cases, and participation in meetings aimed at ensuring consistent case handling in daily operations.

Collaboration with colleagues regarding case processing, professional discussions, and holding meetings concerning consultations.

Preparation of case proposals for the committee.

Important tasks related to reporting outside the organization.

Contribute to the department's operations and other tasks as agreed, in collaboration with colleagues and management, with respectful and goal-oriented cooperation.

The desired profile:

·Educated social worker or similar relevant social professional education.

Interest and willingness for competency development in the area.

Experience with child case management, including documented experience with work under the law on support for children and young people.

Ability to collaborate with colleagues and management.

Ability to work according to organizational and managerial guidelines as a social caseworker.

Role model with good communication skills towards clients.

Mentally strong and capable of handling conflicts.

·Can work outside of priorities, reliable and responsible.

·Stable and thorough.

Speaks and writes both Greenlandic and Danish.

Ability to listen, be open, and willing to collaborate.

Salary and employment conditions:

Salary and employment conditions are in accordance with applicable agreements between the municipality and the negotiating organizations.

Staff housing is provided.

Upon employment, it is required to present a satisfactory criminal record and child certificate. These must be signed and approved by the applicant, after which the employer will obtain them from the National Police.
