Social Worker for Children, Youth, and Family

Municipality of Qeqertalik is seeking a social worker for the Social Administration's department for Children, Youth, and Families in Qasigiannguit. You will work closely with caseworkers and be responsible for follow-up on out-of-home placements. The position requires experience with social legislation and case management for children and youth.

The Municipality of Qeqertalik is seeking a social worker for the Social Administration's Department for Children, Youth, and Families in Qasigiannguit, starting on May 1, 2026, or by further agreement.

In the Social Administration in Qasigiannguit, you will have the department head as your immediate supervisor and work closely with caseworkers in the area of Children, Youth, and Families.

You are responsible for continuously informing the department head about ongoing and new cases as well as updated information within the child welfare area in the Social Administration. This particularly includes social reports, action plans, and follow-up on placements outside the home, including residential placements and daily work with foster families.

In addition, you are responsible for registering and following up on the status and statistical information regarding all ongoing placement cases as well as other related tasks.

You will handle case processing, counseling, and guidance within the foster family area as well as in relation to children placed outside the home, within the area of Children, Youth, and Families.

The case processing in Qasigiannguit is based on the applicable social legislation in Greenland.

participate in the handling of complex and burdensome cases and ensure that all notifications received by the Social Administration are processed and followed up with relevant measures. You will participate in interdisciplinary meetings between the various departments and contribute to the efforts regarding early intervention for pregnant families and families in vulnerable situations.

Your primary work tasks will be:

Work with and follow-up on foster families.

Supervision of children placed outside the home.

Daily case management regarding children and young people.

You will prepare proposals for the Social Committee and ensure ongoing updates. Additionally, it is expected that you collaborate with local key stakeholders in the social sector.

In the work, the journal system GETORG is used, and you will receive training in it.

The position is to be filled by a person who has the following qualifications:

· Educated social worker or with another relevant social education. Experience in the social field, particularly regarding children and young people, as well as knowledge of social legislation is an advantage. Applicants who wish to further their education in the field may also be considered.

Knowledge of objectives and content in the child and youth sector.

Experience with administrative case processing and legislation in the child welfare area.

Experience with coordination and basic case management within children and youth, as well as collaboration with internal and external partners.

Experience with conflict resolution and handling complaints and criticism.

·Trustworthy, empathetic, and ethically aware, as well as a role model for good behavior.

Criminal record and child certificate:

This position is subject to the law on the obligation to obtain criminal and child certificates. According to the law, employment can only begin when the municipality has received satisfactory criminal and child certificates. We must therefore point out that the start date can only be agreed upon once the municipality has received the child certificate from the National Police, as well as the criminal certificate from the Police.

The child certificate is obtained by the municipality with the consent of the individual, while the criminal record is obtained by the individual from the police.

Salary and employment conditions:

Salary and employment conditions are in accordance with the collective agreement in force at the time of appointment between the Government of Greenland and the negotiating organization.

Housing:

A staff housing option will be available for the position, for which a deposit and rent, including utilities, will be paid according to the applicable rules for rent payments in the properties of the Greenland Self-Government and the municipality in Greenland. If a permanent staff residence cannot be made available immediately upon taking office, employees entitled to a vacant residence will be offered a temporary vacant residence, for which A-tax will be paid for benefits in kind according to applicable legislation.

OR The start date is dependent on when a staff accommodation becomes available. A relocation travel allowance and moving of household goods will be provided in accordance with applicable regulations.

A staff housing must be vacated upon termination of the employment relationship.
