Social Worker

Social worker sought for the Day and Referral Department in the Social Agency. The Day and Referral Department works with referrals and advice and guidance for caseworkers in municipalities and residential institutions/24-hour services, and is responsible for the overall management, coordination, and operation of self-governing nationwide residential institutions for children and young people. The Day and Referral Department also handles the development of new initiatives in the field.

About the Social Authority

The Social Authority falls under the Ministry of Children, Youth and Families and the following 5 departments: Paarisa, the Day and Admission Department, the Department for Counseling to Caseworkers, the Finance Department, and the Secretariat. The departments work closely together, and it is a workplace that offers plenty of professional challenges.

 

About the position:

We are looking for a social worker who can work as a visitor for the Day and Visitations Department, who has experience with case management in the municipality and has knowledge of social work and legislation.

The Day and Admission Department operates a central admission system and is responsible for operational and development tasks related to the qualification of employees and leaders in residential institutions and round-the-clock services.

The primary tasks of the visitor are to assess and provide advice and guidance to municipalities in the areas of placement outside the home in a residential institution or round-the-clock services for vulnerable children and young people or individuals with disabilities, with the aim of strengthening legal and social professional knowledge and practice in the field.

• Work tasks/areas: Case processing related to placement cases, assessments, and legislation.
• Social counseling and guidance for residential institutions.
• Social counseling and guidance for the municipalities.
• Purpose descriptions and service declarations regarding self-governing owned residential institutions.
• Involved in developing new initiatives in general in the round-the-clock area.
• Assist in the preparation of guidelines and procedures regarding placement cases and referrals.
• Involved in facilitating at the principal seminar.
• Various ad hoc tasks.
• We expect that you are: A qualified social worker.
• In-depth knowledge of case processing and social legislation.
• Has experience in the social sector.
• Is independent, flexible, structured, and solution-oriented.
• Is well-founded in writing/orally, both Greenlandic and Danish.
• Has good collaboration and communication skills.
• Want to take independent responsibility in solving the tasks of the Social Agency.
• Desire to work in an interdisciplinary environment where individuals contribute to holistic solutions.
• Want to work in a busy and developing environment and can juggle multiple tasks.

Travel activity is expected.

Salary and employment conditions

Salary and employment conditions, including the right to relocation and moving expenses, in accordance with the agreement/collective agreement applicable at the time of commencement between the Government of Greenland and the relevant negotiating organization.

Criminal and child certificate

The Danish Agency for Social Services reserves the right to obtain criminal and child certificates. We therefore point out that the employment can only take effect once the Danish Agency for Social Services has received a satisfactory child certificate from the National Police as well as a criminal record from the Police.

The child certificate is obtained by the Social Authority with written consent from the individual, while the criminal record must be obtained by the individual themselves through the Police.

Employment date:

June 1, 2026, or after further agreement.

Housing

No staff housing is provided for the position. If an applicant already has staff housing through employment in the Self-Government, the right to assigned staff housing is retained.
