Municipality of Qeqertalik is seeking a Secretary General for a central leadership position responsible for political servicing, analysis, law, and management. The role involves close collaboration with the municipal director and the executive team, as well as leadership responsibility for city managers and Citizen Services. A central management position in a Greenlandic municipality

We are looking for a head of secretariat for a key position reporting to the municipal director and tasks for the entire management team. The position combines political servicing, analysis, law, management, and cross-cutting coordination at the heart of the municipality. Here, you will have influence on the big picture and responsibility for ensuring that everyday operations run timely, properly, and safely. At the same time, you will become part of a Greenlandic local community, where your free time can include dog sledding, sailing, snowmobiling, fishing, hiking, northern lights, and midnight sun.
Executive close management role
Reference to the municipal director with tasks for the entire management and close collaboration with the political level.
Management responsibility
Direct management responsibility for the city managers as well as Citizen Services, the Interpretation Office, and the Communications Office.
Core tasks
Political servicing, analysis, legal follow-up, meeting coordination, and cross-cutting problem-solving.
Language requirements
It is an advantage if you can communicate confidently in Greenlandic, Danish, and English - both orally and in writing.
You will be responsible for that.
·political servicing of the municipal council, the Finance Committee/INUA, and other committees, including coordination and timely submission of agendas, appendices, and decision proposals
·secretariat support for the municipal director and the entire management team
·preparation of analyses, notes, and decision proposals in cross-cutting cases as well as participation in specific analyses in the administrations according to the management's priorities
·follow-up on complaints, ombudsman inquiries, oversight cases, and other formal inquiries, ensuring deadlines are met and responsible management delivers in a timely manner
·management responsibility for the city managers and coordination of their efforts in the interaction between the cities, the executive board, and the administrations
·personnel responsibility for Citizen Service, the Interpreting Office, and the Communications Office in the staff and secretariat
·smaller project and implementation tasks, including within sustainability and other cross-cutting initiatives
We imagine that you
·has experience from a politically governed organization, preferably municipal
can navigate safely between political servicing, operations, analysis, and cross-cutting coordination
·has a strong understanding of deadlines, case processes, decision-making basis, and administrative quality
can create momentum and bring the threads together, even when multiple administrations or cities are involved
·has experience in managing administrative staff and preferably urban units
is analytically strong and can translate complex issues into clear presentations
is ideally trilingual with confident communication in all three languages - both orally and in writing

The practical
The position reports to the municipal director but handles tasks for the entire management team.
Travel activity in the municipality is to be expected as needed.
·Salary placement as department head level 1 according to the management agreement, housing according to applicable rules, start date as soon as possible and application deadline May 18, 2026.
