Vice Principal

Atuarfik Kilaaseeraq in Maniitsoq is seeking a vice principal for an exciting position with great development opportunities. The school is divided into smaller departments and focuses on student development. The role involves shared responsibility for staff management, development of educational methods, and collaboration with village schools. Start date is August 1, 2026.

A functioning deputy principal is hired as a teacher and receives a role as deputy principal with an accompanying salary supplement. The reason is that the chairman of IMAK should be able to return to his old position.

Atuarfik Kilaaseeqqaq in Maniitsoq is seeking a former vice principal for an exciting position with good development opportunities.

Atuarfik Kilaaseeqqaq is a school that is currently and in the coming year divided into smaller school departments within the overall school. The departments are divided by grade level and are located in different parts of the city. The newly renovated school is set to be ready by July 2027.

The school works purposefully on the students' development. The staff consists of employees with various educational backgrounds and strong social skills, who support each other and have good collaboration.

The school is attentive to quickly implementing support measures for classes or students who need academic or social support. The school develops in a collaborative spirit with a focus on the students' development.

Atuarfik Kilaaseeqqaq is a school with two main tracks, divided into 18 classes from 1st to 10th grade with around 334 students, as well as 5 special classes and 2 AKT classes.

Due to the renovation of the school, classes are currently taking place in four different school buildings.

The school has 45 full-time teachers as well as a school consultant, a social worker, an office employee, an IT employee, and 3 caretakers.

The school has a strong and experienced management consisting of grade leaders, a former vice principal, and a former school principal.

Work tasks

  • Shared responsibility for personnel management, employee development, and administration
  • Shared responsibility for the development of the school's pedagogical and learning methods.
  • Ensure a good collaboration between school and home
  • Shared responsibility for Atuarfik Kilaaseeqqaq as a leading school to provide advice and support to the village schools in Atammik, Napasoq, and Kangaamiut.
  • Contribute to supervision and follow-up
  • Joint responsibility for supervision of the school's buildings, including safety
  • Shared responsibility for the school's operation in relation to the school board and the municipal council.
  • Participation in meetings for school leaders

Salary and employment conditions

Salary and employment conditions are in accordance with the applicable agreement (see www.imak.gl), including the right to free travel and relocation of personal belongings. After 3 years of employment, one is entitled to return travel and relocation of personal belongings.

Special terms of appointment

The position offers special fixed-term conditions. After 12 months, this provides annual travel benefits, and after 3 years of employment, a severance savings payment is made. The fixed term can be extended by 1 year as long as the school meets the requirements.

Child certificate and criminal record certificate

The position is subject to legislation regarding the procurement of a child certificate. The municipality can only hire an employee once a satisfactory child certificate has been received from the police.

A regular criminal record will also be obtained through Qeqqata Municipality.

Housing

A staff housing can be provided for the position, for which a deposit and rent, utilities, etc. will be paid according to the applicable rules for rent payment in the Greenland Self-Government and the municipality's properties in Greenland. If permanent staff housing cannot be made available immediately upon taking up the position, employees entitled to temporary housing will be offered a temporary accommodation, for which rent, utilities, etc. will be paid in accordance with the above.
