The Director of Welfare is part of the top management in Qeqqata Municipality. The Director of Welfare must ensure a reliable Welfare area and focus on the harmonization of the two welfare areas in Sisimiut and Maniitsoq.
The work as Director of Welfare will therefore be characterized by high professional quality and will go hand in hand with an increasing focus on good citizen service. The area of Welfare has 3 department heads who will also be part of the daily management.
A director is expected to exercise a quality-oriented and dialogue-based leadership style, grounded in high personal integrity and natural authority, while maintaining focus on the overarching political and administrative objectives.
Qeqqata Municipality focuses on "Akisussaaqatigiitta - Shared Responsibility," which aims to ensure that children receive care and protection, and that the quality of life for the elderly is maintained.
Work and areas of responsibility:

Ensure that political and administrative objectives are translated into concrete efforts and initiatives, including the areas of disability and elderly care, as well as ensuring good financial management for the area.

Ensure legal administration and support the execution and follow-up on political visions, decisions, and plans with the aim of effective solutions and sustainable results.

Overall management and financial control. This includes being a guarantor for effective financial management and appropriate resource utilization with a focus on strategy, development, and improvements within the Welfare sector.

Ensure that the implementation and subsequent operation within the Welfare area in Qeqqata Municipality takes place based on established intentions and objectives, including ensuring citizens good service regardless of whether they live in a town or a village.

Initiate and follow up on the development of the organization, collaboration, processes, and task resolution.

Advise and guide professional areas and institutions within applicable legislation.

Ensure that the individual departments carry out their work in accordance with the established frameworks and goals.

You have a master's degree or another relevant education, as well as a leadership training.

You naturally have authority and dynamism, and you are a visible top leader.

You are good at collaborating and positively influencing your surroundings.

You have experience with or the willingness to develop the Welfare area.

You can work purposefully in a dual-cultural environment.

You are preferably multilingual, Greenlandic, Danish, and English.
Salary and employment conditions are in accordance with the agreements and collective agreements in force at any given time between the Government of Greenland and your negotiating organization. The position of Director of Welfare is administratively located in Sisimiut and organized under the Municipal Director in Sisimiut.
Commencement on July 1, 2026, or by agreement.
