Greenland's Fisheries and Hunting Control is seeking a Head of the Control Department. Greenland's Fisheries and Hunting Control (GFJK) is looking for a control manager who will be an important part of the ongoing modernization of GFJK.
Work tasks
Head of the Control Department with three regional offices.
Responsible for the control of fishing, hunting, and trapping throughout Greenland.
Responsible for planning the inspection in collaboration with three station managers.
Responsible for the fishing observer scheme and fishing and hunting inspectors.
Collaboration with the HR manager on the training of fisheries and hunting control trainees.
Participate in the analysis of fishing data and follow-up on violations of fishing, catch, and hunting legislation.
Participation in the preparation of proposals for changes to the guidelines for fishery control and legislation, incorporation of international obligations, and monitoring developments in other countries regarding fishery regulation.
Participation in international meetings and negotiations.
Refers to the Fisheries and Hunting Control Chief.
The control manager is part of the management team and is the deputy for the Fisheries & Hunting Control Manager.
Qualifications

A person with relevant education is sought, with: Documented management experience

Management experience from the Greenlandic Self-Government is a great advantage.

A strong knowledge of fishery control is crucial.

Knowledge of catch and hunting control is a great advantage.

Knowledge of practical fishing and equipment techniques, etc., will be a great advantage.

Strong systematic, analytical, and planning abilities

Good knowledge of data processing tools, including Excel, Word, PowerPoint.

Good oral and written communication skills in Greenlandic, Danish, and English.
Good collaboration skills are required, as the tasks will largely take place in cross-functional cooperation with internal, external, and international stakeholders in the fishing industry.

ABOUT GFJK
Greenland's Fisheries and Hunting Control (GFJK) is responsible for monitoring, surveillance, and control of Greenlandic fishing, hunting, and trapping.
GFJK's main objective is to ensure compliance with Greenland's Self-Government fishing and hunting legislation, including the rules issued under bilateral fishing agreements or as a result of Greenland's participation in international organizations or accession to international conventions on fishing activities. The work is carried out in close collaboration with the Department of Fisheries, Hunting, Agriculture, and Self-Sufficiency.
GFJK consists of a headquarters in Nuuk and 3 regional offices, respectively in Sisimiut, Ilulissat, and Nuuk.

Employment terms
The position is currently classified as equivalent to 36. The salary with fixed salary components and personal pension contributions in LR 36 amounts to DKK 57,102 monthly and DKK 685,224 annually as of April 1, 2025.
Employment will initially be on collective agreement terms; if the applicant is already a civil servant under the civil service laws for public Greenland, employment may occur on civil servant terms.
For the position, it applies that no maximum length of service has been established and that the provisions regarding compensation for overtime and the provisions regarding compensation for lost days off do not apply; the working hours are initially 40 hours per week.
Salary and employment conditions, including the right to relocation and moving expenses upon hiring and termination, in accordance with the collective agreement in force at the time of commencement between the Government of Greenland and the relevant negotiating organization.
Housing
No staff housing is allocated for the position. If an applicant already has staff housing through employment in the Self-Government, the right to the allocated staff housing is retained. The staff housing is linked to the employment relationship and must be vacated upon termination of the employment relationship.
