The Department of Nursing at Ilisimatusarfik is seeking an assistant professor or associate professor in nursing or health sciences with a department head function. The position is temporary for 3 years with the possibility of extension. The working hours are 40 hours per week. The position is available for occupancy from April 1, 2026, or by further agreement.

The department offers a bachelor's degree in nursing as well as continuing education programs in clinical supervision training, grief counseling training, and individual subject courses.
As an assistant professor or lecturer with a department head function, you will play a central role in the academic, pedagogical, and organizational development of the nursing education program. You will be responsible for both academic leadership tasks and specific teaching assignments in the bachelor's program and continuing education, including planning, implementation, and evaluation of teaching as well as advising students.
You actively contribute to quality assurance and further development of research and development-based teaching and to strengthening the professional and educational environment in the department. In collaboration with employees and external partners, you help ensure that the programs continue to develop in line with the needs of society, the healthcare system, and the profession.
The study has approximately 45 enrolled students, and the department has PhD students, two full-time employees, and one part-time professor, as well as a number of external guest lecturers, adjunct professors, and several affiliated researchers. The incoming department head will be involved in further developing the department by recruiting more permanent teaching staff and researchers in collaboration with the institute director.
At the department, teaching can take place in Greenlandic, Danish, and English. Emphasis is also placed on knowledge of Greenlandic society and culture. A prerequisite for employment is that one resides in Nuuk during the employment period.

Qualification requirements Relevant university education in nursing or health sciences at the PhD level.

Research, teaching, and communication qualifications equivalent to that of an assistant professor or associate professor level.

Experience in teaching and/or conveying knowledge within nursing science or health science.

Knowledge of education and research within the institute's core subjects nationally and internationally.

Good analytical skills and a sense of organization

Flexibility and willingness to work in a small but ambitious university environment.

Language skills in Greenlandic, Danish, and English are a great advantage, as is knowledge of Greenlandic conditions and an international perspective.

It will be an advantage to have Greenlandic authorization as a nurse.

About the Joint Administration
The Joint Administration serves the entire university. It is led by the university director. The Joint Administration has departments in Ilimmarfik and Ilinniarfissuaq. The departments work closely with the academic units, but also collaborate with each other. The tasks of the Joint Administration include: student administration, personnel administration, servicing the board and the Academic Council, as well as other service functions for the university's staff and students. The Joint Administration is also responsible for the building operations of Ilimmarfik.
Salary and employment conditions
Salary and employment conditions, including the right to relocation travel and moving expenses, in accordance with the agreement/collective agreement in force at the time of commencement between the Government of Greenland and the relevant negotiating organization.
Housing
No staff housing is provided for the position. If an applicant already has staff housing through employment in the Self-Government, the right to assigned staff housing is retained. The staff housing is linked to the employment relationship and must be vacated upon termination of the employment relationship.
