Recreation Consultant

The Municipality of Sermersooq is seeking a skilled and dedicated Leisure Consultant for the Department of Leisure to start as soon as possible.

You will independently and responsibly handle functions within a wide range of tasks in the leisure and sports area. There will be both administrative operational tasks and project and development tasks in collaboration with other employees in the department, which consists of an educational consultant, a project employee, and another leisure consultant, as well as 5 colleagues in the cultural area.

In the Department of Leisure and Culture, we have various project and development tasks that involve cross-cutting work within the municipal organization and collaboration with associations, organizations, and several other stakeholders. You must have the ability and desire to collaborate with many different actors in the leisure and cultural sector.

As a leisure consultant, it will be an advantage if you have experience from a similar position. We envision that you have an administrative or other relevant background. You should enjoy working independently and switching between tasks of both an administrative and practical nature. We place a high value on the right personality, as the position requires a wide range of competencies and a robust character.

The position, which is a full-time role, reports to the head of the Department of Leisure and Culture in Nuuk.

The responsibilities and competencies of the position

• We are looking for a – preferably experienced – leisure consultant to promote association work, as well as volunteering, and to handle a number of tasks including:

·Keep up to date with the associations' submission of revised accounts, etc.

·Independently can handle construction and development tasks within the leisure sector.

·Working on various projects that promote leisure in Nuuk

Pursue the objectives that the municipality has in the area of leisure and sports.

·Preparation of agreements, advice, and sparring with associations and other stakeholders in the leisure and sports sector

·Must be able to advise on budget estimates in connection with projects and applications.

·Handle applications related to subsidy regulations

·Plan and conduct course seminars for associations

·Collaboration with other colleagues during Leisure and Culture.

·Ongoing update of the association list

·Consulting for associations

Develop volunteering

Being bilingual in Greenlandic and Danish is an advantage, but not a requirement.

·Ad hoc tasks

The tasks are carried out in close collaboration with another leisure consultant and department heads in other towns in the Municipality of Sermersooq.

Criminal record:

This position is subject to the law requiring the collection of a criminal record. According to the law, employment can only begin once the municipality has received a criminal record. We would therefore like to point out that the start date can only be agreed upon once the municipality has received the criminal record from the Police.

Salary and employment conditions:

Salary and employment conditions are in accordance with the applicable agreement between the Government of Greenland, in accordance with the agreement/collective agreement in force at the time of appointment between the Government of Greenland and the relevant negotiating organization.

The employment will be subject to a 3-month probation period.
