The Institute of Health and Nature at Ilisimatusarfik is seeking a health professional educator/professional teacher for the Department of Nursing. The position is a 5-year fixed-term employment with a requirement to complete a relevant master's or graduate degree. You will be part of an engaged professional environment responsible for teaching, guidance, and development of the nursing education.
Health professional educator/professional subject teacher for the Department of Nursing at Ilisimatusarfik The Institute of Health and Nature at Ilisimatusarfik is seeking a health professional educator/professional subject teacher for the Department of Nursing, starting May 1, 2026, or by further agreement. The working hours are 40 hours per week.
The position is a 5-year fixed-term employment with a clear qualification process. It is a requirement that the employee completes and finishes a relevant master's degree during the employment period. Once the degree is obtained, there will be an appointment to a teaching assistant position in the same department, provided there has been a job posting for a teaching assistant in accordance with applicable agreements and regulations.
About the Institute for Health and Nature
The Institute for Health and Nature is part of Ilisimatusarfik and is responsible for education and research in health and natural sciences in an Arctic and societal context. The Department of Nursing trains the nurses of the future with a focus on quality, professionalism, and relevance to the Greenlandic healthcare system. In addition to the Department of Nursing, the institute also consists of the Department of SILA (the biology program) and the Center for Health Research.
Approximately 45 students are enrolled in the program, and the department has an (upcoming) Department Head, two full-time employees, a part-time professor and PhD students, as well as a number of external guest lecturers, adjunct professors, and several affiliated researchers.
The department offers a bachelor's degree in nursing as well as continuing education programs in clinical supervision training, grief counseling training, and individual subject courses.

You will contribute to quality assurance and further development of research and development-based teaching and to strengthening the academic and pedagogical environment in the department. In collaboration with employees and external partners, you will help ensure that the educational programs continue to evolve in line with the needs of society, the healthcare system, and the profession. The position involves both independent responsibility and close collaboration with colleagues in a multidisciplinary and development-oriented environment.
The vocational teacher will report to the Head of the Institute.
Qualifications

We are looking for an applicant who: has a professional bachelor's degree in a health-related field, e.g. nurse, midwife, or equivalent

Is motivated to complete a relevant master's degree within 5 years.

Has clinical experience

Has teaching or communication experience in nursing or health sciences.

Flexibility and willingness to work in a small but ambitious university environment.

Language skills in Greenlandic, Danish, and English are a great advantage, as is knowledge of Greenlandic conditions and an international perspective.
Emphasis is placed on professional reflection skills, collaboration abilities, and engagement in the development of health education in Greenland.

About the Joint Administration
The Shared Administration serves the entire university. It is led by the university director. The Shared Administration has departments in Ilimmarfik and Ilinniarfissuaq. The departments work closely with the academic units, but also collaborate with each other. The tasks of the Shared Administration include: student administration, personnel administration, servicing the board and the Academic Council, as well as other service functions for the university's staff and students. The Shared Administration is also responsible for the building operations of Ilimmarfik.
Salary and employment conditions
Salary and employment conditions, including the right to relocation travel and moving expenses, in accordance with the agreement/collective agreement in force at the time of commencement between the Government of Greenland and the relevant negotiating organization.
Housing
No staff housing is provided for the position. If an applicant already has staff housing through employment in the Self-Government, the right to assigned staff housing is retained. The staff housing is linked to the employment relationship and must be vacated upon termination of the employment relationship.
