The position involves analytical work and impact assessments related to labor market and education conditions as well as business and economic aspects in the mineral sector.
Economist - associate or special consultant - for the raw materials sector in Greenland. The Department of Business, Raw Materials, Energy, Justice, and Equality is seeking an associate or a special consultant to play a central role in the authorities' management of mining by ensuring that raw material projects create real value for society and are conducted on an economically responsible basis.
The raw material sector in Greenland.
The development in the raw materials sector in Greenland is currently characterized by a strategic shift towards the green agenda and a particular new political interest in the opportunities within especially critical minerals. There are currently 2 active mines in production, and extensive exploration activities are underway. The continued strong interest in the raw material potential means new and increasingly larger tasks, including in the international profiling and marketing of the raw material potential.
It is the Department's finest task to develop the regulatory area so that the industry experiences a smooth partner and that the necessary considerations and oversight of activities are taken, so that they comply with the legislation.
One of the Department's important tasks in connection with mineral resource activities is to ensure that the Greenlandic community receives the greatest possible benefits in terms of employment, business development, taxes, and other revenues. Therefore, we are seeking an economic officer or special consultant to help ensure employment as well as the involvement of local communities and businesses in connection with mineral resource activities.
We are an exciting workplace in rapid development. Our everyday life is characterized by a good tone and short lines of communication, where there is room to put a personal touch on the results.
