Accounting Assistant

GUX Nuuk is looking for an accounting employee. At GUX Nuuk in the administration, there is a vacant position as an accounting employee starting from June 1, 2026, or as soon as possible thereafter. This is a full-time position of 40 hours per week.

GUX Nuuk is Greenland's largest high school and has around 500 students in 8 tracks for the three grades in the new school year, taught by about 50 teachers and around 15 PAM staff. Our students have very different academic and social conditions, but share a common dream of graduating.

The school is associated with several colleges, and the recruitment area extends from Tasiilaq in the east to Paamiut in the southwest, although the vast majority of students come from Nuuk. We work at the school with second language pedagogy and culture-based teaching, placing students at the center of the school's activities.

We are looking for a reliable employee with a good sense of humor, who possesses an overview in a sometimes hectic everyday life. The employee should be helpful towards colleagues and able to work in a structured and independent manner in close collaboration with other employees.

Our new employee will have a large contact area and will work on many different tasks, so it is important that you are flexible and can structure your time to see tasks through to completion.

• Your primary tasks will, along with the other office staff, be: Approval of invoices and internal postings in IRIS Suite
• Overview and follow-up on fixed costs
• Expenses for employees
• Travel settlements
• Updating of inventory lists and accounting instructions
• Budgeting in collaboration with management
• Ongoing budget follow-up (monthly and quarterly)
• Follow-up on food consumption at Rød Kollegiet
• We expect that you: Have an academic degree (preferably in economics & resource management)
• Has experience with similar administrative tasks
• Is familiar with, for example, Excel, Word, and can otherwise handle a daily routine with many different IT systems, where we provide training if necessary.

Salary and employment conditions

Salary and employment conditions, including the right to travel for joining and leaving and relocation of personal belongings, in accordance with the agreement/collective agreement applicable at the time of commencement between the Government of Greenland and the relevant negotiating organization.

Housing

No staff housing is provided for the position. If an applicant already has staff housing through employment in the Self-Government, the right to assigned staff housing is retained. The staff housing is linked to the employment relationship and must be vacated upon the termination of the employment relationship.
