We are looking for a skilled translator and language consultant to coordinate internal and external interpretation in the Department of Social Affairs, Labor, Families, and Interior Affairs. We are looking for a skilled translator and language consultant who can coordinate the internal and external interpretation in the Department of Social Affairs, Labor Market, Families, and Domestic Affairs in the Government of Greenland.
It is important that you have an eye for detail and can meet deadlines. In addition to translating and interpreting, you contribute to the overall interpreting coordination effort as part of the team. The tasks vary between translations, simultaneous interpreting, proofreading, as well as sending tasks to external interpreters and ensuring the quality of these. This often happens in collaboration with individual case handlers and the management secretariat.

You will shape your daily life, where your tasks include: Overall coordination of translation tasks

Translation of, for example, decision proposals, draft bills, comments, presentation notes, response notes, notes, answers to §37 questions, and other materials produced by the ministries in connection with task execution.

Send tasks to translators and interpreters

Quality assurance of translations in the department

Contribute with simultaneous interpretation as needed.
About the Department for Social Affairs, Labor Market, Families, and Interior Affairs
In the department, we have about 35 employees distributed across the departments of Management Secretariat, Social Affairs, Labor Market, Internal Affairs, and the Supervisory Unit.
You will join a team in the Management Secretariat to serve the political and administrative leadership and the professional departments. You will report to the head of the Management Secretariat. We have a good informal environment in the department, where professionalism is prioritized. There is a short distance from decision to action, and there can be very busy deadlines at times.

Professional qualifications: Trained translator/interpreter or other relevant education.

Experience from similar positions or environments is an advantage.

User level in the MS Office suite and preferably experience with the case management system cBrain F2. General good system understanding will therefore be an advantage.

Good language skills in Greenlandic, Danish, and English.

Personal qualifications: Independence and ability to maintain an overview in stressful situations

Housing
No housing is provided for the position. If an applicant already has
Staff housing through employment in the Self-Government retains the right to assigned staff housing.
The personnel residence is linked to the employment relationship and must be vacated upon
termination of the employment relationship.

For an applicant with the right documentable competencies, employment as a special consultant, chief consultant, or senior advisor can occur in accordance with the applicable agreement.

No housing is provided for the position. If an applicant already has housing through employment in the Self-Government, the right to assigned housing is retained. The housing is linked to the employment relationship and must be vacated upon termination of the employment relationship.
