Municipality of Qeqertalik is seeking a caseworker for the Children and Youth Department in Aasiaat. Responsibilities include handling cases related to children and youth, developing action plans, conducting family interviews, and managing placement cases. Qualifications include a degree in social work and experience in disability work.

The Municipality of Qeqertalik is seeking a caseworker for the Children and Youth Department in Aasiaat, starting on April 1, 2026, or by further agreement.

Work and areas of responsibility will include:

  • Handling of cases concerning children and young people, including the registration and documentation of relevant information.
  • Gathering necessary information in connection with case processing regarding children and young people.
  • Implementation of relevant measures for children, young people, and families, including the development of action plans and the conduct of social work investigations.
  • Conducting conversations with children, young people, and families.
  • Handling of placement cases within the framework of the legislation, including planning and managing the cases on a sound basis, as well as collaborating with parents and prospective placement locations. Modification of placements and accompanying and implementing the placement itself.
  • Child-centered supervision of children placed outside the home
  • Handling of notifications
  • Participation in social watch and standby arrangements outside normal working hours.

Qualifications:

  • Educated social worker or with another relevant educational background.
  • Experience working with individuals with disabilities, including experience providing support in accordance with legislation on assistance for children and adults with disabilities.
  • Knowledge of the use of computers and relevant work tools.
  • Is reliable, responsible, meticulous, and cooperative.
  • Psychological resilience is a requirement to hold the position.

Salary and employment conditions:

Salary and employment conditions are in accordance with the collective agreement in force at the time of appointment between the Government of Greenland and the negotiating organization.

Housing

A staff housing option will be available for the position, for which a deposit and rent, as well as utilities, will be paid according to the current regulations for rent payments in the properties of the Greenland Self-Government and the municipality in Greenland. If permanent staff accommodation cannot be made available immediately upon commencement, employees entitled to a vacant residence will be offered a temporary vacant residence, for which A-tax will be paid for fringe benefits in accordance with applicable legislation.

OR The start date is dependent on when a staff housing is available. A relocation travel allowance and moving expenses for personal belongings are provided in accordance with applicable regulations.

A staff residence must be vacated upon the termination of the employment relationship.

Criminal record and child certificate:

This position is subject to the law requiring the collection of criminal and child certificates. According to the law, employment can only begin once the municipality has received satisfactory criminal and child certificates. We must therefore point out that the start date can only be agreed upon once the municipality has received the child certificate from the national police, as well as the criminal certificate from the police.

The child certificate is obtained by the municipality with the consent of the individual, while the criminal record is obtained by the individual from the police.
