Researcher/Senior Researcher in Oceanography and Marine Ecosystem Monitoring for the Greenland Climate Research Center at the Greenland Institute of Natural Resources The Greenland Climate Research Center (GCRC) at the Greenland Institute of Natural Resources is seeking a researcher/senior researcher for a permanent position in Nuuk, Greenland.
The position involves responsibility for the MarineBase Zackenberg monitoring program, which is part of Greenland Ecosystem Monitoring (GEM). The right candidate will also have the opportunity to develop and participate in other research projects.
About GCRC
GCRC conducts interdisciplinary, long-term research and monitoring of physical, chemical, and biological processes in Greenlandic fjords and marine areas. The center also contributes to research-based education, including the Arctic Science Study Program (ASSP) and SILA – the bachelor's program in Arctic biology. Additionally, GCRC provides research-based advice to Greenlandic authorities and represents Greenlandic marine research in national and international contexts.
The position
The right candidate will serve as the Principal Investigator (PI) for the MarineBasis Zackenberg program. The tasks include planning and participating in the annual field campaign in the Zackenberg area of Northeast Greenland, as well as ensuring high professional and organizational quality in the program's implementation.
The position requires strong organizational skills, experience in handling and analyzing large datasets (preferably long-term monitoring and time series), and the ability to attract external research funding. The candidate will be part of an international research environment that works with integrated studies in physical oceanography, marine ecology, and climate-related processes, focusing on understanding natural variation and climate-driven changes in Arctic marine ecosystems.

Qualifications
Applicants must have a Ph.D. in physical oceanography or a closely related marine discipline.

Documented ability to attract external research funding

Salary and employment conditions
Salary and employment conditions, including the right to relocation travel and moving expenses, in accordance with the agreement/collective agreement in force at the time of appointment between the Government of Greenland and the relevant negotiating organization.
Housing
No housing is provided for the position. If an applicant already has housing through employment in the Self-Government, the right to the assigned housing is retained. The housing is linked to the employment relationship and must be vacated upon termination of the employment relationship.
The Greenland Nature Institute provides rental housing for the first year of employment. After that, housing must be found on the private market.
