The Municipality of Sermersooq is seeking a skilled and dedicated department manager for the Administration for Children and Schools under the school department.

We are looking for a department head for the school department.
Our goal is to ensure that all children have the best opportunities for development. This happens in close collaboration between schools, daycare institutions, and parents or other caregivers. Together, we ensure that all children thrive and develop. As a department leader, you must ensure professionalism in the department and support the consultants in providing the best advice and guidance to the schools. You, along with the head of the department, must translate political decisions into concrete solutions in the school and after-school care areas.
You will report to the Head of Schools and MISI and will have four school consultants and three learning consultants in your team.

The position:
As the department head in the School Department, you will play a central role in leading, developing, ensuring high professionalism, and collaborating within the School Department, as well as ensuring interdisciplinary collaboration across departments.
Create a good working environment for the employees and good service for the citizens.
Your core task will be to support and develop the educational and developmental work in the school area together with the educational consultants. As a department leader, your role will be to facilitate and support the processes in close collaboration with school consultants and learning consultants, as well as with the leaders in the area and other relevant partners. This is a position with a high degree of freedom and accompanying responsibility, where you have ample opportunity to shape everyday life yourself.
Your tasks:
·Personnel management of consultants
Professional sparring, support, and guidance for consultants and AKO/SPO/FRO leaders
Plan courses and organize educational theme days.
·Engage in interdisciplinary collaboration with other departments/administrations and external partners.
·Contribute to the preparation of program proposals for renovation, conversion, and new construction.
·Management of the administrative staff, including daily management (meetings, departmental meetings, illness, etc.),

Requirements and expectations for the department manager:
We are looking for a department leader with a teaching degree supplemented by further education - preferably with an advanced degree, leadership experience, or administrative experience within the school sector. You should have strong collaboration skills, be adaptable, and be able to navigate in an organization under development. In addition, you should have a good overview of the department's competencies, resources, and development opportunities.

You must ensure that the school department functions as a team where everyone contributes to achieving the common goals.
Criminal and Child Certificate:
The position is covered by the law on the obligation to obtain a criminal record and child certificate. According to the law, employment can only begin once the municipality has received a satisfactory criminal record and child certificate. We must therefore point out that the start date can only be agreed upon once the municipality has received the child certificate from the national police and the criminal record from the police.
The child certificate is obtained by the municipality with the consent of the individual, while the criminal record is obtained by the individual from the police.
Salary and employment conditions:
Salary and employment conditions are in accordance with the applicable agreement between the Government of Greenland, in accordance with the agreement/collective agreement in force at the time of appointment between the Government of Greenland and the relevant negotiating organization.
The employment will be subject to a 3-month probation period.
