A position as a health assistant is available at the regional hospital in Sisimiut from February 1, 2026. The role includes day shifts, weekend shifts, and on-call shifts. You will participate in triage, nursing consultations, and medication distribution. As the 1st assistant, you will be responsible for daily management and administrative tasks. The position is for day shifts in the consultation, where you will also have your own consultations. Additionally, you will have to work one weekend each month, and you should also expect to be on call from home on weekdays, as well as assist with shifts as needed due to illness, vacation, and training sessions.
The consultation includes a medical and nursing consultation and an emergency room function for the entire Sisimiut.
You will collaborate with the other nursing staff to participate in the assessment of acute and outpatient inquiries, provide independent nursing consultations, assist doctors during various minor surgical procedures, and help with medication distribution.

As a 1st assistant / deputy head, you collaborate with the department nurse, for example, being responsible for the daily management in the consultation as well as sharing responsibility for the staff. As a 1st assistant, you are assigned administrative tasks such as duty schedules and staff interviews based on needs, weekly plans, and other development and competency tasks. In collaboration with the department nurse, you participate in staff and management meetings, prepare guidelines and patient information, updates regarding new guidelines and procedures, introduce and guide new staff, ensure that health care is provided in accordance with medical prescriptions, and share responsibility for continuous education of students and trainees in the consultation, along with many other tasks.

The regional hospital in Sisimiut has about 73 employees and 19 beds, functioning as a combination of a medical practice and an emergency room with the possibility of admissions. We also have a well-functioning primary care department.
