The position is a full-time role of 40 hours weekly with rotating shifts. You will work in a psychiatric department focusing on care and milieu therapy for patients with psychiatric disorders. Introductory programs are offered for newcomers to psychiatry. The department is part of Dronning Ingrids Hospital in Nuuk.

The position is a full-time job of 40 hours per week in rotating shifts. The position can be filled from February 1, 2026, or by further agreement. The position may possibly be filled in a temporary role of at least 4 months' duration.

The weekly working hours are 40 hours in rotating day, evening, and night shifts. You should expect to be on duty every other weekend. If you are new to psychiatry, you can receive a special introductory program.

A1 is a psychiatric department that receives both acute and planned patients from all over Greenland. We have space for 12 patients with mental disorders. There is space for 3 patients in a sheltered section. The psychiatric department is managed daily by a head nurse. There are about 22 employees; nurses, health assistants, educators, and occupational therapists. In the department, we work on the development of psychiatric care and milieu therapy. We focus on supportive nursing, patient and medication safety, the contact person function, conflict management, relationships and networks, milieu therapy, involving the patient in the treatment process, and psycho-education.

As an assistant, you will be responsible for acting as the contact person for a small group of patients in collaboration with a multidisciplinary team. You will need to contribute with frameworks and structure for daily life, work with the patient to develop coping plans, observe psychopathology, document, and conduct supportive conversations. You will assist in training and retraining daily skills for the patients. In the discharge phase, you will focus with the patient on the good life outside the hospital.

The psychiatric department is part of the psychiatric area in Greenland and is located at Greenland's National Hospital Queen Ingrid's Hospital. The psychiatric area is managed daily by a regional management team. The psychiatric area includes the inpatient department A1 and the district psychiatry in Nuuk. We have a well-functioning outpatient clinic with doctors and psychologists who work with patients from all over Greenland, including through telepsychiatry. In addition, there is a psychiatric therapy associated with the department that focuses on rehabilitation – recovery.

  • Has psychiatric experience preferably from acute psychiatry or interest in it.

Salary and employment conditions, including the right to travel for joining and leaving, as well as relocation of personal belongings, in accordance with the agreement/collective agreement in force at the time of commencement between the Government of Greenland and the relevant negotiating organization.
