Pharmacist, Nurse or Health Assistant

We are looking for a Pharmacist, Nurse or Health Assistant for the Maniitsoq Health Center. The position is full-time with 40 hours weekly and includes weekend duty every 6-8 weeks. Tasks include medication ordering, dosing, and collaboration with healthcare staff. We offer a varied workday with good opportunities for support and professional development.

We are looking for a Pharmacist, Nurse, or Health Assistant with a primary function in the "Pharmacy" at the Maniitsoq Health Center starting April 6, 2026.

The position is a full-time job of 40 hours per week. Work is from 08:00 to 16:00 on all weekdays, and a weekend shift must be expected every 6-8 weeks in the health center's inpatient department if you have a background as a healthcare assistant or nurse. The position can also be filled as a temporary position of at least 6 months duration.

Your tasks will consist of assisting citizens who approach the pharmacy with prescriptions for medication. You will collaborate with other staff to ensure medication and nursing supplies for three associated villages and the city's nursing home Neriusaaq, which orders medication and depot items weekly.

You will, in collaboration with psychiatric and somatic home care, dose medication for the assigned patients, assist in ordering control blood tests and EKGs, and conduct medication reviews for their patients to promote medication safety and prevent polypharmacy.

Your task is to guide and collaborate with the doctors to ensure that the recommendations for medication in "The Greenlandic Health Service" are followed.

In addition, you will be responsible for tasks related to nursing supplies, regular counting of prescription medications, expiration checks, and monitoring of medication accounts. The workflow regarding the ordering of medications and nursing supplies will take place in close collaboration with, and will be managed by, the pharmacist in Sisimiut. During the two major annual medication orders, the pharmacist will come to Maniitsoq. Between orders, there will be ongoing collaboration and support with the pharmacists at the Sisimiut regional hospital.

You will work closely with doctors, nurses, and other healthcare professionals in your daily tasks.

Maniitsoq Health Center is part of the Qeqqa health region and has around 60 employees. The local management at Maniitsoq Health Center collaborates with the regional management, which is physically located at the regional hospital in Sisimiut.

About us:

Maniitsoq Health Center is part of the Qeqqa Health Region and has around 60 employees. Distributed across the health center and the three associated nursing stations in the district's villages.

The health center's inpatient department has space for 18 hospitalized patients of all ages with various disease patterns - medical and surgical patients, as well as psychiatric patients admitted from time to time. The staff team consists of 4-5 nurses, 4 healthcare assistants, and 4 healthcare helpers. The nurses work day and evening shifts and are on call at night from their own homes - with a doctor on standby. Between 4:00 PM and 8:00 AM, the inpatient department functions as an emergency room - however, we do not expect you to have emergency room experience.

The health center provides primary care for somatic and psychiatric home care, health care, maternity care, physiotherapy, venereal and contraception clinic, as well as 2-3 medical consultations. In addition, the center has a laboratory, X-ray, nursing consultation, emergency room/reception, and pharmacy.

A little about Maniitsoq:

Maniitsoq is located on Greenland's west coast, just south of the Arctic Circle between Nuuk in the south and Sisimiut in the north. The Maniitsoq area is very beautiful, surrounded by high and jagged mountains with glaciers that extend down to deep fjords. There are about 3,800 inhabitants in the district, with approximately 2,800 in the town and the rest in the district's three settlements. The settlements are visited several times a year, and transportation is done by boat. The town has most modern conveniences, grocery stores, a domestic airport, weekly connections with the coastal ship, and during the summer months, a fast boat route to Nuuk.

Summer leisure activities include hiking in the mountains and sailing among the humpback whales, which are characteristic of our district. In the winter months, the northern lights dance in the evening and night sky, and during the day, there are opportunities for alpine and cross-country skiing. Additionally, Maniitsoq has an evening school with many exciting activities, and throughout the year, there are opportunities for various sports activities.
