Ivaneq has 25 places distributed by age groups in 5 departments. The age group is 0-17 years.
Purpose
Ivaneq's purpose is to offer a safe, homely, and structured care environment with stable and accommodating adults who take responsibility for the children's well-being, development, and learning. The children should feel that they are seen, heard, and included in the social community. Furthermore, it is an essential goal for the children to learn to navigate different types of relationships and communities, including institutional life, schooling, leisure activities, and friendships. Ivaneq emphasizes supporting the child's right to contact and interaction with parents and other close relationships. Finally, it is a goal for the children to learn to master everyday tasks and challenges so that they are prepared for an independent and responsible way of life after leaving the institution.
Social pedagogical method
Ivaneq is based on recognition and relationship and attachment pedagogy. It is in the meeting and interaction with other people that the child develops self-understanding, self-esteem, and self-confidence, just as it is in the interaction with others that the child learns to give and receive recognition. A stable, inclusive, and recognizing adult contact is the foundation for the child to thrive and unfold its potential. The primary and secondary educators play a key role as a safe and secure haven for the child. Other key concepts in the initiatives and collaboration at Ivaneq are recognition, decency, responsibility, and professionalism.
Collaborative relationships beyond the Social Authority and the municipalities
Ivaneq emphasizes maintaining a good collaboration with the local schools as well as the healthcare system and the police. There is also collaboration with external psychologists regarding teaching and supervision.

The social worker's immediate supervisor is the department manager.

The social worker is responsible for:

To carry out the educational work in accordance with the decisions of the department meeting and the instructions of the department head.

Together with their colleagues, supervise the children in accordance with their age and ability and ensure safe and caring environments for the department's children.

To engage in a loyal collaboration with colleagues in the department, as relevant, with colleagues in other departments as well as with one's department head and management.

Continuously communicate his observations and thoughts about the children, including residents from other departments, to the department head and colleagues.

Actively participating in the department's and the institution's life and development.

To seek knowledge about the topics necessary for the performance of one's task, including staying informed about relevant managerial decisions.

Together with his colleagues, participate in the department's and institution's practical tasks in accordance with the frameworks set by the department head and management, including accompanying children on home visits, participating in colony and project trips.

Salary and employment conditions
Salary and employment conditions, including the right to travel for joining and leaving and the relocation of personal belongings, in accordance with the agreement/collective agreement applicable at the time of commencement between the Government of Greenland and the relevant negotiating organization.
Housing
No staff housing is provided for the position. If an applicant already has staff housing through employment in the Self-Government, the right to the assigned staff housing is retained. The staff housing is linked to the employment relationship and must be vacated upon the termination of the employment relationship.
