Social Worker / Case Handler

Aasiaat - The Social Department is seeking a Social Worker / Case Handler for children and adults with disabilities. Tasks include supervision, counseling, and case management for individuals with disabilities. Qualifications include relevant education and experience. The Municipality of Qeqertalik Aasiaat is seeking a Social Worker/Disability Case Manager. The position is desired to be filled by April 1, 2026, or by further agreement.

Work and areas of responsibility will include:

  • Proactive supervision regarding conditions for people with disabilities in the municipality.
  • Receiving inquiries and providing advice in cases concerning persons with disabilities.
  • Guidance and case processing for persons with disabilities based on social legislation and applicable guidelines.
  • Assessment and application for services for persons with disabilities in accordance with applicable legislation.
  • Preparation of applications to the interdisciplinary committee and the Social and Care Committee regarding the use of support measures.
  • Assessment of support for persons with disabilities according to legislation and provision of support based on need.

Qualifications:

  • Educated social worker or with another relevant educational background.
  • Experience working with individuals with disabilities, including experience providing support in accordance with legislation on assistance for children and adults with disabilities.
  • Knowledge of the use of computers and relevant work tools.
  • A person with experience working with people with disabilities, who is reliable, determined, meticulous, and good to collaborate with.
  • Psychological resilience is a requirement to hold the position.

Salary and employment conditions:

Salary and employment conditions are in accordance with the collective agreement in force at the time of commencement between the Government of Greenland and the negotiating organization.

Housing:

A staff housing option will be available for the position, for which a deposit and rent, utilities, etc. will be paid according to the current regulations for rent payments in the properties of the Greenland Self-Government and the municipality in Greenland. If permanent accommodation cannot be made available immediately upon commencement, employees entitled to a vacant apartment will be offered a temporary vacant apartment, for which A-tax will be paid for benefits in kind in accordance with applicable legislation.

OR The start date is dependent on when a staff accommodation becomes available. A relocation travel allowance and moving expenses for household goods are provided in accordance with applicable regulations.

A staff residence must be vacated upon the termination of the employment relationship.

Criminal and child certificate:

This position is subject to the law requiring the collection of criminal and child certificates. According to the law, employment can only begin once the municipality has received satisfactory criminal and child certificates. We would therefore like to point out that the start date can only be agreed upon once the municipality has received the child certificate from the National Police, as well as the criminal certificate from the Police.

The child certificate is obtained by the municipality with the consent of the individual, while the criminal record is obtained by the individual from the police.
