Royal Arctic Line is looking for a Chief Commercial Officer who can develop the business and strengthen customer relationships. You will be responsible for commercial strategy, sales, and business development in a company that is crucial for Greenland.
Do you want to translate commercial strategy into results in a company of crucial importance to Greenland? Royal Arctic Line is looking for a Chief Commercial Officer who can develop the business, strengthen customer relationships, and lead a strong commercial organization.
As CCO, you will be part of Royal Arctic Line's top management with responsibility for commercial strategy, sales, business development, and customer service. You set the direction and ensure that it is translated into action across the organization.
You must be able to combine strategic vision with commercial decisiveness and create results through people. In return, you will have a central role at the intersection of business, society, and critical infrastructure.
You will report directly to the CEO and have broad management responsibility for the company's customer and sales-oriented activities as well as the associated organization.
Your responsibility
Your main task is to strengthen Royal Arctic Line's commercial position and translate the strategy into measurable results.
You will be responsible for:
setting the commercial direction and ensuring results in revenue and earnings
identifying and realizing business opportunities within sea freight, project sales, and time charter
developing Key Account Management and strengthening relationships with strategic customers, agents, and partners
enhancing customer satisfaction through professional service and proactive customer dialogue
ensuring data-driven follow-up on sales, volumes, revenues, and forecasts
developing the commercial organization and creating results through leaders and employees
contributing to Royal Arctic Line's overall strategy and ensuring coherence between commercial development and operational activities
driving the development of CRM and using customer and market data to strengthen the business.
contributing to the development and effective use of TMS and other business systems that support the commercial processes and customer journey
You will work closely with operations, IT, finance, communication, and marketing and have extensive contact with customers, agents, and partners.
You set direction and get the organization on board
You are more than a strong sales profile – you are a commercial leader.
You see opportunities in the market, prioritize efforts, and follow them through. You navigate confidently between strategic decisions and the concrete business.
You work systematically with results and finances and know that long-term value creation requires strong customer relationships and an organization that delivers.
As a leader, you are clear and inclusive. You set clear expectations, follow up, and challenge constructively. At the same time, you develop people and create followership around common goals.
Your background
You have a solid commercial and managerial background, preferably from shipping, logistics, transport, or another complex business.
A degree in shipping or logistics and at least ten years of relevant experience is a strong background. We are also open to other relevant educational and professional profiles.
We place particular emphasis on your:
significant management experience and documented commercial understanding
ability to translate strategy into operational action
strong analytical skills and good financial understanding
experience with sales, negotiation, and development of customer relationships
clear, credible, and impactful communication
goal-oriented, structured, and persistent work ethic
ability to create results across disciplines and organizational areas
understanding of Greenlandic conditions, customers, and business.
Additionally, you must be proficient in Danish and English. Greenlandic language skills are an advantage but not a requirement.
A commercial responsibility with societal significance
At Royal Arctic Line, you will have a direct impact on the development of the business and the customers' experience. You will have broad management responsibility in a company of crucial importance to Greenland.
You will work with strategy, commercial optimization, and financial management as well as relationships with public and private stakeholders – central development areas in the role.
As part of a publicly owned company, you must reconcile commercial value creation with an understanding of the company's societal role.
The position is for you who seek a broader responsibility than the classic commercial director role and thrive with complex decisions, many stakeholders, and the opportunity to make a real difference.
