The position is available for occupancy from September 15, 2026, or by further agreement.

Job Responsibilities and Working Hours:

In this position, you will be attached to a therapy team, all of whom work both at the hospital and in the municipality. In the municipality, we are still in the process of building the therapy services, and there will therefore be good opportunities to influence the therapeutic offerings to the city's citizens. The therapy team currently consists of 3 physiotherapists and 1 occupational therapist.

Your working hours will be evenly distributed between the two workplaces, and you can largely help plan your workday. The daily working hours are from 08:00-16:00 Monday to Friday. There is no on-call duty.

You can expect possible travel activity to Maniitsoq, as well as the use of internet consultations (via teams) for assessment and instruction of patients, relatives, and staff.

Municipal Responsibilities of the Occupational Therapist:

• Responsible for measuring, adjusting, and advising on the use of aids for the citizens
• Professional examinations and assessments
• Assessment of the citizen's functional ability in relation to daily activities (ADL)
• Everyday rehabilitation
• Guidance of nursing staff in the use of aids and appropriate working methods
• Interdisciplinary collaboration
• Meetings with teachers, relatives, and interdisciplinary partners
• Contribute to the development of municipal offerings in the elderly and disability sector
• Occupational therapy assessments and guidance for citizens in municipal offerings, including nursing homes
• There is an opportunity for professional sparring with the therapy team in Kommuneqarfik Sermersooq in Nuuk
• Documentation is done in Winformatik

Responsibilities of the Occupational Therapist at the Hospital:

• Examination, treatment, and instruction of hospitalized and outpatient patients
• Assessment of patients' functional ability in relation to daily activities (ADL)
• Assessment of swallowing difficulties in hospitalized patients
• Assessment of aids
• Guidance in energy-saving working methods and activity strategies
• Supervise and instruct relevant staff and possibly relatives
• Participation in relevant interdisciplinary meetings
• Handle tasks within the speech therapy area, as there is no permanently assigned speech therapist in Sisimiut
• There is an opportunity for sparring with the therapists at Queen Ingrid's Hospital in Nuuk
• Documentation is done in Cosmic

About Us:

• The municipality is the city's largest employer with many different functions. The closest partners are the caseworkers and the manager at the nursing home.
• The regional hospital in Sisimiut serves about 6000 citizens both in the city and in the three associated settlements Kangerlussuaq, Itilleq, and Sarfannguit
• We have about 73 employees at the hospital in Sisimiut. There are 6 doctors for primarily general medical consultations as well as a ward with 19 beds. Maniitsoq health center has the same size and function, but about 55 employees.
• It is important to be flexible, able to work independently, and not afraid of challenges
• There is an opportunity to use an interpreter

Region Qeqqa is Central Greenland's region, located on the west coast. Here you will find the two main cities Sisimiut, north of the Arctic Circle, and Maniitsoq, south of the Arctic Circle, as well as 6 smaller settlements. The total population in the region is nearly 10,000 people. Maniitsoq has its own health center, where a physiotherapist is employed. There is also a physiotherapist employed in the municipality.

Sisimiut is Greenland's second-largest city and is a fantastic area for outdoor life. There are good opportunities for hiking shorter or longer trips, and in winter there are many activities within dog sledding, snowmobiling, and skiing. There are also several cultural events, a small cinema, as well as a sports hall and fitness center.

Housing will be provided according to the rules applicable in the Greenlandic Health Service at any given time.

Salary and Employment

Salary and employment conditions, including the right to travel for joining and leaving and relocation of belongings, according to the agreement/collective agreement in force at the time of commencement between the Government of Greenland and the relevant negotiating organization.
