Janitor and Service Employee for the Children and Family Intervention Area

Do you have the right skills, thrive on diverse tasks, and are motivated by making everyday life work for others? Then the Municipality of Sermersooq is looking for an engaged and service-minded janitor and service employee for the Children and Family Intervention Area.

You will be an important part of the daily operations and will help ensure that our buildings, outdoor areas, vehicles, and other facilities function optimally, so that employees, children, youth, and families encounter safe and well-functioning environments.

About the Position:

As a janitor and service employee, you will be the central practical resource across the intervention area. You will have a varied everyday life with both planned and urgent tasks, where you independently prioritize and plan the work in close dialogue with the area's leaders.

The position includes, among other things:

∙Operation, supervision, and maintenance of the area's buildings and technical installations

∙Ongoing supervision of boiler rooms, including prevention of frost and water damage

∙Refilling of oil tanks and other operational tasks

∙Coordination of chimney sweeping and contact with external craftsmen and suppliers

∙Minor craft repairs and maintenance tasks

∙Hanging pictures, boards, cabinets, and furniture

∙Assembly, relocation, adjustment, and repair of furniture

∙Preparation of rooms for meetings, courses, and events

∙Moving inventory and practical assistance during internal relocations

∙Snow removal and ice control around the area's buildings during the winter period

∙Minor purchases and collection of materials, spare parts, and equipment

∙Maintenance and preparation of the area's service vehicles, including washing, minor maintenance, and practical coordination

∙Shared responsibility for the operation and maintenance of the intervention area's cabins and boats, including seasonal preparation, ongoing supervision, and inspection after use and stormy weather

∙Other practical service tasks that support daily operations

We are looking for an employee who:

∙Is practically oriented and has experience with janitorial, caretaker, craft, or service tasks

∙Can work independently and take responsibility for their own tasks

∙Has a sense of order, quality, and maintenance

∙Is service-minded and enjoys helping colleagues

∙Is flexible and can handle both planned and urgent tasks

∙Has a driver's license (minimum category B)

∙Preferably has experience with minor craft tasks, plumbing, carpentry, painting, or similar practical work

∙Is bilingual in Greenlandic and Danish is an advantage, but not a requirement

About the Workplace:

The Children and Family Intervention Area consists of several departments with around 100 employees who work with prevention, counseling, treatment, crisis interventions, and support for children, youth, and families. The janitorial function supports the entire intervention area and contributes to ensuring that our physical environments function safely, efficiently, and professionally.

Criminal and Child Certificate:

This position is subject to the law requiring the collection of criminal and child certificates. According to the law, employment can only begin when the municipality has received satisfactory criminal and child certificates. We must therefore point out that the start date can only be agreed upon once the municipality has received the child certificate from the National Police and the criminal certificate from the Police.

The child certificate is obtained by the municipality with the consent of the individual, while the criminal certificate is obtained by the individual from the Police.

Salary and Employment Conditions:

Salary and employment conditions are in accordance with the applicable collective agreement between the Government of Greenland, according to the agreement/collective agreement in effect at the time of commencement between the Government of Greenland and the relevant negotiating organization.

The employment will be subject to a 3-month probation period.

Housing:

No staff housing can be provided for the position.
