Municipality Sermersooq MI Tasiilaq is seeking a family advisor for the intervention area under the Administration for Children and Family. The position involves working with vulnerable children and families, participating in social pedagogical initiatives, home visits, conversation processes, and interdisciplinary treatment planning. We are looking for an experienced candidate with relevant social education and experience in holistic family treatment.
The Municipality of Sermersooq MI Tasiilaq is seeking a skilled and dedicated family counselor for the newly established intervention area under the Administration for Children and Family.
MI Tasiilaq has reorganized and decided that all areas of focus will be gathered in a single department. When all positions are filled, the department will consist of 23 employees distributed across:
1 department leader, 1 treatment leader, 1 psychologist, 2 psychotherapists, 1 consultant for the children's house with a coordinating function on children's house cases, 10 family advisors – of which 1 has a coordinating function, 4 youth advisors – of which 1 has a coordinating function, and 3 foster family consultants.
The intervention area in MI Tasiilaq works with vulnerable children and families who are referred by the caseworkers in the authority area / or come through open counseling. In the context of the children's house, referrals can also come from the police, primarily for the sake of video interviews.
The family counselor must participate in family counseling and social pedagogical initiatives concerning socially disadvantaged families together with other family counselors, youth advisors, and other staff at MI Tasiilaq, working on a structured basis, which means that we take the whole family into account.
The position is a full-time position and reports to the department manager in the intervention area MI Tasiilaq.
The content of the position:
We are looking for an – preferably experienced – family counselor, with a good educational background and preferably practical experience in working with vulnerable children and families, to join our work with vulnerable children and families by taking on tasks such as:
Support and guide regarding care, communication, roles, and other similar factors that affect the child's and family's well-being.
·Carry out a social pedagogical effort in working with children and families
·Conduct home visits to children and families
·Conduct conversations with children and families
Participate in interdisciplinary treatment planning based on observation and analysis.
·Engage in interdisciplinary collaboration with both internal and external partners
Contribute to and engage with the treatment team and be an active part of the development of the treatment work.
·Be an active advisor in open counseling
·Other tasks as agreed with the treatment leader or department head in the Intervention area MI Tasiilaq
The tasks are solved in close interdisciplinary collaboration with MI Tasiilaq's other employees in the area of intervention and the authority area, as well as external partners such as the police, the health center, the school, and daycare institutions.
Expectations for applicants:
You are trained as a pedagogue, health assistant, social worker, early childhood consultant, or other relevant social education.
Has extensive experience with holistic family therapy.
Has great personal and professional integrity and impact.
Is good at structuring, coordinating, planning, and following up on tasks.

·Has a positive view of people, the desire and ability to focus on what works
·Has the desire and ability to talk to many different people, meet them where they are, and help them create change.
Is open and outgoing
·Wants to work in an organization that is constantly evolving.
·Has experience in project management

Being bilingual in Greenlandic and Danish is an advantage, but not a requirement.

Criminal and Child Certificate:
The position is covered by the law on the obligation to obtain a criminal record and child certificate. According to the law, employment can only begin when the municipality has received a satisfactory criminal record and child certificate. We must therefore point out that the start date can only be agreed upon once the municipality has received the child certificate from the National Police and the criminal record from the Police.
The child certificate is obtained by the municipality with the consent of the individual, while the criminal record is obtained by the individual from the police.
Salary and employment conditions:
Salary and employment conditions are in accordance with the applicable collective agreement between the Government of Greenland, according to the agreement/collective agreement in effect at the time of appointment between the Government of Greenland and the relevant negotiating organization.
The employment will be subject to a 3-month probation period.
