The Tax Agency is seeking an office manager for the customs and excise office. You will lead the office's tasks in the customs and excise area, including the control of ships, passengers, and shipments. The position requires a strong professional profile, a risk-based approach, and good communication skills. Knowledge of Greenlandic, Danish, and English is an advantage.
The Danish Tax Agency is seeking a Department Head. A position as Department Head is available at the Danish Tax Agency starting May 1, 2026, or by further agreement.
Organizational placement and work tasks:
The position is located in the Danish Tax Agency's customs and excise office. As the head of the office, you are responsible for the office's tasks within the customs and excise area. The tasks primarily consist of inspecting ships, incoming passengers at airports, inspecting mail and freight shipments, and checking a number of other duties, including port and import duties. Additionally, you have personnel responsibility for an office that is staffed with 13 employees.
There is a strong focus on securing Greenland's borders, particularly concerning narcotic drugs, money, and also regarding the smuggling of goods in and out. Another important task is to ensure that correct import duties are collected.
The construction of new airports, changing freight structures, and the increasing tourism also lead to a greater need for the presence and control of people and goods.
One of your tasks will therefore be to develop, implement, and maintain the agency's customs strategy, and to ensure the good collaboration that the agency has with various partners such as Nordic customs authorities, Greenland Airports, Tusass A/S, Royal Arctic Line A/S, port authorities, etc.
In addition, the Tax Agency wishes to focus on the continued development and implementation of tools for assessing risks related to patterns of travelers and goods, etc.
As the daily manager of the customs and excise office, you will also need to work on developing the function's internal processes, systems, objectives, and standards.
The customs and excise office is currently staffed with 11 employees and 6 dogs.
About you:
The ideal candidate has a strong professional profile and a solid knowledge of customs and tax matters, both at a professional and administrative level. You have a natural authority, great integrity, and a risk-based approach to problem-solving, and you are good at communicating and engaging in dialogue with others.
You are very welcome to have experience as a personnel leader, but it is not a requirement. The most important thing is that you approach the leadership task with vision and dedication.
It is an advantage if you can both speak and write Greenlandic, Danish, and English, as well as having knowledge of Greenlandic culture and the Greenlandic society.
Salary and employment conditions
The position is currently salary-fixed corresponding to 36. The salary with fixed salary components and personal contribution to pension in LR 36 amounts to DKK 57,531 monthly and DKK 690,372 annually as of April 1, 2026.
Employment will initially take place under collective agreement terms, where applicants who are already civil servants under the civil service laws for the public Greenland may be employed under civil servant terms.
Salary and employment conditions, including the right to travel to and from work and relocation of personal belongings, in accordance with the collective agreement in force at the time of commencement between the Government of Greenland and the relevant negotiating organization.
Civil servants in the state and employees under a number of AC agreements, including the agreement between DJØF and the Ministry of Finance, have the right to unpaid leave in connection with employment under the Government of Greenland. The Ministry of the Interior has also urged municipalities and regions to be accommodating towards applications for unpaid leave in connection with employment under the Government of Greenland. The provisions on unpaid leave also include spouses/partners of individuals employed under the Government of Greenland.
Housing
No staff housing is provided for the position. If an applicant already has staff housing through employment in the Self-Government, the right to the assigned staff housing is retained. The staff housing is linked to the employment relationship and must be vacated upon the termination of the employment relationship.
