As a department head, you will be the one who has an eye for the interplay between applicable legislation, political goals, and practical operations. It is a challenging but exciting intersection to work in as a leader. However, as a department head, you have the opportunity within the aforementioned framework to create results that make a difference for the vulnerable children and families in Paamiut.

The child and family sector enjoys significant political and public attention, and this is particularly true for Paamiut. It is therefore crucial that you can personally work under this pressure while also being able to ensure stable operations and development. You must be able to handle a daily routine with practical challenges, urgent issues, and good solutions that require flexibility. Therefore, you should be driven by a strong social commitment, have structure in your work, and be willing to take on responsibilities beyond the ordinary.

Organizationally, you will be placed in the administration for children and families, Paamiut. You will report to the Director of the Administration for Children and Families and be part of the administration's management team.

The position is to be filled as soon as possible or by mutual agreement, and the position requires an education in the social field.

Leadership training and management experience, including leadership in a politically governed organization.

Education as a social worker, social worker with leadership training and preferably a therapeutic continuing education.

Professional insight into the social, pedagogical, and therapeutic fields, including applicable legislation.

The ability to lead through leaders and thereby create sustainable changes in one's area of management.

Strategically minded and with personal integrity and impact.

Knowledge of Greenlandic social conditions and the Greenlandic language is crucial for solving the many tasks and challenges.

Your daily tasks in collaboration with the team leader and treatment leader will be:

As the head of department, you are responsible for both the authority area (BFA) and the intervention area (BFC). The authority area is managed daily by a department leader for social workers, case handlers, and ensuring the specific case processing. The department leader for the intervention area is responsible for the specific initiatives that are referred to, including; the Children and Family Center family counselors, youth advisors, family counseling, family action, family apartments, and crisis center.

As a department head, you must therefore be able to handle complex legislation effortlessly with one hand, while also ensuring the development and safe operation of the specific social interventions.

Criminal and Child Certificate:

This position is subject to the law on the obligation to obtain criminal and child certificates. According to the law, employment can only begin once the municipality has received satisfactory criminal and child certificates. Therefore, we must point out that the start date can only be agreed upon once the municipality has received the child certificate and criminal certificate from the National Police as well as the criminal certificate from the Police.

The child certificate is obtained by the municipality with the consent of the individual, while the criminal record is obtained by the individual from the Police.

Salary and employment conditions:

Salary and employment conditions are in accordance with the applicable agreement between the Government of Greenland, in accordance with the agreement/collective agreement in force at the time of commencement between the Government of Greenland and the relevant negotiating organization. The employment will be subject to a 3-month probation period.

Housing:

A staff housing can be provided for the position, for which a deposit and rent, utilities, etc. will be paid according to the applicable rules for rent payments in the Greenland Self-Government and the municipality's properties in Greenland. If permanent staff housing cannot be made available immediately upon commencement, employees entitled to temporary housing will be offered a temporary vacant housing, for which rent, utilities, etc. will be paid according to the above. The start date is dependent on when a staff accommodation is available. A relocation travel allowance and moving expenses for household goods are provided in accordance with applicable regulations.
