Museum curator/caretaker Nunatta Katersugaasiva Allagaateqarfialu is looking for a versatile museum curator/caretaker who can ensure the operation and maintenance of the museum with dedication. The position requires a combination of technical skills and craftsmanship experience, as you will play a central role in both daily tasks and project-based activities.
The manager/caretaker is responsible for supervising NKA's buildings and equipment, including overseeing maintenance. The manager is responsible for the maintenance of the institution's vessels and car. The manager is NKA's point of contact with external craftsmen and companies in connection with purchases and maintenance. Furthermore, it is the manager's responsibility to ensure that security systems, including fire extinguishing equipment, emergency lighting, and smoke detectors are in order.
Your primary tasks
As part of a dynamic and interdisciplinary team, you will be responsible for:
Building supervision as well as minor repairs, so the museum's facilities are always in top shape.
Preparation of shipping equipment and efficient packing in connection with fieldwork and projects
Development and construction of special exhibitions in collaboration with exhibition designers
Setup, operation, and maintenance of AV and IT equipment for exhibitions and events
Operate the museum's boat and be responsible for technical supervision and engine maintenance.
Participation in fieldwork, including surveys, maintenance, and excavations.
Operation and supervision of the workshop and machines, as well as other technical equipment.
Management of winter measures, including snow removal and access security during the winter months.
Postal and logistics tasks, such as pickup, shipping, and coordination.
We are looking for you who:
Has a relevant vocational education and experience in technical maintenance and repair.
Possess maritime certificates and have experience in operating a boat as well as engine maintenance.
Mastering Greenlandic and Danish, both orally and in writing.
Is structured, solution-oriented, and thrives in a dynamic everyday life.
Has a driver's license.
The position is set at 40 hours per week with the possibility of overtime. The application should be attached with educational certificates, a clean criminal record, and a child certificate.
Salary and employment conditions
Salary and employment conditions, including the right to travel for joining and leaving as well as relocation of personal belongings, in accordance with the agreement/collective agreement in effect at the time of commencement between the Government of Greenland and the relevant negotiating organization.
Housing
No staff housing is provided for the position. If an applicant already has staff housing through employment in the Self-Government, the right to assigned staff housing is retained. The staff housing is linked to the employment relationship and must be vacated upon termination of the employment relationship.
