Director of Education

WE ARE LOOKING FOR THIS POSITION We are seeking a committed and strategically strong head of education for Perorsaanermik Ilinniarfik/Social Pedagogical Seminar, who will lead the development of our educational programs and set the direction for the future social pedagogical competencies.

As the Head of Education, you will have overall responsibility for the quality, academic direction, and development of the educational programs, playing a central role in ensuring coherence between strategy and practice. We are looking for a leader with strategic insight and professional weight who can translate overarching goals into well-functioning teaching and strong educational pathways. The role includes responsibility for the school's eight educational directions as well as continuing education and course activities.

You will be part of a close management collaboration with the principal and deputy principal and will help ensure that the organization's strategic goals are translated into concrete teaching and strong educational programs.

Areas of responsibility

• Has the overall responsibility for the quality, development, and academic direction of the programs.
• Participates in a close and committed management collaboration with the principal and deputy principal and translates the organization's strategy into professional practice and implementation.
• Establishes the framework for standard hours, including time for teaching, preparation, and meeting activities.
• Has personnel responsibility and ensures clear leadership, well-being, and development of employees.
• Responsible for Lectio and scheduling, ensuring appropriate planning of the teaching.
• Establishes principles for team sizes and ensures coherence between quality and economy.
• Contributes to and develops the professional strategy for the education programs.
• Ensures high professional quality in teaching and educational programs
• Is responsible for the development and adaptation of the educational offerings.
• Has the overall responsibility for exams and collaboration with examiners.
• Has responsibility for the censor corps and ensures quality and coherence in collaboration with the censors.
• Establishes and maintains the framework for the education programs, including the internship handbook, examination handbook, quality assurance, and study regulations.
• Is responsible for following up on the departments' resource consumption and ensuring coherence between professional priorities and financial frameworks.
• Handles collaboration with other educational institutions and relevant external stakeholders.
• Actively participates in and contributes to the school's committees.

• Is educated as a pedagogue and has solid knowledge of pedagogical education and the pedagogical field.
• Works independently, takes responsibility, and demonstrates decisiveness in task resolution.
• Has a strong understanding of systems and the ability to develop and establish frameworks, structures, and processes that support the quality and implementation of education.
• Has an inclusive leadership style and creates engagement and influence among employees.
• Can communicate in Greenlandic as well as at least one other relevant working language and has knowledge of Greenlandic culture and the Greenlandic society.
• Is trustworthy and naturally creates relationships, so employees and partners seek dialogue and collaboration.
• Is clear in their communication and can convey direction, decisions, and expectations clearly.
• Thinks strategically and can translate overarching goals into concrete actions.
• Has a strong overview and works in a structured and systematic way in both development and operational tasks.
• Possesses professional weight and gains respect and legitimacy among educators and collaborators.
• Has strong collaboration skills and can build good relationships internally and externally.

The position is currently classified as equivalent to 36. The salary with fixed salary components and personal contributions to the pension in LR 36 amounts to DKK 57,531 monthly and DKK 690,372 annually as of April 1, 2026.

Housing

An unfurnished staff housing can be assigned for the position according to the applicable rules at any given time. Housing cannot be assigned to individuals who already have staff housing or another property owned by the municipality or the Government of Greenland. Rent and deposit are paid according to the applicable rules for the assigned housing. The staff housing is linked to the employment relationship and must be vacated upon termination of the employment relationship.

Rent and housing standards may vary depending on the age of the property, ownership conditions, etc. There may be a waiting period for the allocation of permanent staff housing, which is why temporary accommodation may occur, including in smaller housing communities or hotel apartments, for which taxation applies. It is not possible to keep larger pets, such as dogs or cats, in staff or temporary housing.
