Lawyer for the development of housing legislation and political service – with staff housing
Do you want to work with legislation and political service closely related to the political decision-making process in an area of great importance for citizens' everyday lives and the development of society? As a lawyer in the Housing and Property sector, you will be part of the work to develop and manage the frameworks for the housing sector in Greenland.
The housing area is undergoing significant development, and you will have the opportunity to contribute to the work on new and updated housing legislation, legal assessments, and decision-making basis for the Naalakkersuisut. As part of a smaller office, you will quickly gain independent responsibility and the opportunity to follow cases from idea to political decision.
The Housing and Property area is placed under the Construction Department in the Ministry of Housing, Infrastructure, Outlying Districts, and Emergency Management. The office has a busy everyday life with a wide range of tasks.
The Housing and Property area also manages the Self-Government's ownership role in relation to the purchase and sale of properties, handling the Self-Government's housing stock, as well as ownership shares in housing associations and cooperative housing. The tasks include ongoing dialogue with INI A/S regarding administration, operations, and the finances of the housing departments.
As a lawyer, you will work with legal case processing and contribute to the preparation of notes and decision-making basis for the political system. You will be involved in the legislative preparatory work and contribute to the updating of housing legislation in close collaboration with the office's other employees. The position provides a solid foundation for a career in central administration, legislative work, and political service.
The Housing and Property area currently consists of a department head and three employees.

The right candidate
You are educated as a ba.jur. or cand.jur. or are a law student currently completing your education. Experience in public or political administration is an advantage, but not a requirement.

Salary and employment conditions
Salary and employment conditions, including the right to travel for joining and leaving, as well as relocation of personal belongings, in accordance with the agreement/collective agreement in force at the time of commencement between the Government of Greenland and the relevant negotiating organization.
For an applicant with the right documentable competencies, employment as a special consultant, chief consultant, or senior advisor can occur in accordance with the applicable collective agreement.
Housing
An unfurnished staff housing can be allocated for the position according to the applicable rules at any given time. Housing cannot be allocated to individuals who already have staff housing or another property owned by the municipality or the Government of Greenland. Rent and deposit are paid according to the applicable rules for the allocated housing. The staff housing is linked to the employment relationship and must be vacated upon termination of the employment relationship.
Rent and housing standards may vary depending on the age of the property, ownership conditions, etc. There may be a waiting period for the allocation of permanent staff housing, which is why temporary accommodation may occur, including in smaller co-housing communities or hotel apartments, for which taxation applies. It is not permitted to keep larger pets, such as dogs or cats, in staff or temporary housing.
