Greenland's Police is seeking a skilled lawyer to handle the many different legal tasks in the Management Secretariat. The tasks in the Management Secretariat are a varying combination of concrete legal case processing outside of criminal law aimed at citizens and authorities, as well as contributing to the interpretation and communication of rules and handling legal issues related to the police's portfolio of tasks, and conducting internal training. In addition, the secretariat is responsible for preparing contributions to responses to parliamentary questions and hearings from the National Police and the Greenlandic authorities. As a lawyer in the Management Secretariat, you will also be expected to actively participate in the development of Greenland's Police as an organization.
About the position
In the Management Secretariat, we work primarily to support the entire Greenland Police in achieving the strategic goals. We do this based on the Greenland Police's overall strategy for 2023-2026 "Together we create safety," which focuses on prevention, children and youth, violent crime, and a good workplace. Your work is central to achieving these goals.
You will become part of the Management Secretariat, which as a department handles a range of very diverse tasks including everything from communication and legal case processing, assistance to other authorities, to portfolio management, general management support, and the collection of police claims.
The Management Secretariat is part of the Greenland Police's staff function, which is tasked with supporting the overall task execution in the police district.
Your work tasks thus provide a basis for a broad interface with and insight into the entire organization of the Greenland Police. The position therefore involves close collaboration with the senior management of the police district and other leaders across the entire Greenland Police.
In your daily work, you will support the head of the secretariat and the top management, particularly by:
legal case processing in a wide range of areas, for example, restraining order cases, compensation cases, permit cases, complaint cases, etc.
legal guidance for both citizens and colleagues
to support the Greenland Police in connection with ministerial services during hearings from the legislative assemblies
to prepare materials and guidelines that support the tasks of the police and management
to prepare legal notes, guidelines, action cards, etc.
to ensure good cooperation with a wide range of Greenlandic and Danish authorities as well as international stakeholders
to manage projects and development tasks
About you
You thrive in a large organization that is constantly influenced by political decisions, and you understand how to think and act from a holistic perspective. A good knowledge of the police and prosecution areas and/or experience from central administration is an advantage, but not a requirement.
You are motivated by the interaction between independently delving into legal issues and engaging in interdisciplinary collaboration with other colleagues. You quickly familiarize yourself with new regulations and fields of expertise, as well as quickly grasp both specific and general legal issues – even in areas where navigation between different legislations issued by Greenlandic and Danish authorities is required.
You are good at expressing yourself both verbally and in writing, and you work efficiently, independently, and in a structured manner at a high professional level.
Furthermore, you have personal impact and thrive in a sometimes fast-paced and changing everyday life while being meticulous with your work.

About the department
You will become part of the Management Secretariat, which consists of 9 employees, including 2 legal interns. Salary and employment conditions
Remuneration will be based on education level and qualifications and in accordance with the agreement between the Ministry of Finance and the negotiating organization.
The working hours are 40 hours per week.
The workplace is in Nuuk, but since we service the entire police district in Greenland, travel activity may occur.
A unfurnished staff apartment can be assigned to the position, for which you will pay the deposit, rent, and ongoing expenses yourself. The size of the apartment depends on the number of people in your household. Since there may be a waiting period for the assignment of a permanent staff apartment, a furnished temporary apartment will be made available to you in the meantime. Accommodation in a hotel may occur for a short period if there is also a waiting period for a temporary apartment. No temporary apartment will be provided if you are already residing in Nuuk.
Moving of household goods and travel for commencement is provided in accordance with the applicable rules at any given time. It is a prerequisite for employment that you can obtain a security clearance, and you must be able to maintain the security clearance throughout your employment.
The working hours in the Greenland Police are smoke- and nicotine-free.
