Vacant priest position in Maniitsoq, Greenland

Under the Kalaallit Nunaat Ilagiit, 1 new posted priest position is available for occupancy on February 15, 2026, or by agreement. The position is located in:

Palaseqarfik Maniitsoq, Provsteqarfik Qeqqa Tunulu

The position: Applicants must meet the requirements of the Inatsisartut Act no. 9 of May 19, 2010, as amended, chapter 7.

It is a requirement that the incoming priest is proficient in Greenlandic.

Salary and employment conditions as well as moving of household goods:

Employment will initially take place under conditions similar to those of civil servants. If the applicant is already a civil servant under the Civil Servant Act for the public sector in Greenland, employment may occur under civil servant conditions.

For retired civil servants, the position can only be obtained as a fixed-term position for 5 years. (70 years).

Criminal record and child certificate:

The position is covered by the law on the obligation to obtain criminal and child certificates. According to the law, employment can only begin once the bishop's office has received satisfactory criminal and child certificates. We must therefore point out that the start date can only be agreed upon once the bishop's office has received the child certificate from the national police, as well as the criminal certificate from the police.

The child certificate is obtained by the bishop's office with the consent of the individual, while the criminal record is obtained by the individual from the police.

Salary and employment conditions

Salary and employment conditions, including the right to travel for joining and leaving and relocation of personal belongings, in accordance with the agreement/collective agreement in force at the time of commencement between the Government of Greenland and the relevant negotiating organization.

Housing

An unfurnished staff apartment can be allocated for the position according to the applicable rules at any given time. Housing cannot be allocated to individuals who already have a staff apartment or another property owned by the municipality or the Government of Greenland. Rent and deposit are paid according to the applicable rules for the allocated apartment. The staff apartment is linked to the employment relationship and must be vacated upon termination of the employment relationship.

Rent and housing standards may vary depending on the age of the property, ownership conditions, etc. There may be a waiting period for the allocation of permanent staff housing, which is why temporary accommodation may occur, including in smaller shared housing or hotel apartments, for which taxation applies. It is not possible to keep larger pets, such as dogs or cats, in staff or temporary housing.
