Teacher for Isortoq School

The Municipality of Sermersooq is seeking a teacher for Isortoq School in all subjects.

Isortoq is a village in East Greenland located close to the ice sheet with about 64 inhabitants, of which 7 are school students. Isortoq is located about 100 km west of Tasiilaq, making it Tasiilaq's most remote village. Isortoq School has 2 teachers employed. Therefore, as a teacher, you should expect to teach mixed-age classes.

Criminal and Child Certificate:

The position is covered by the law on the obligation to obtain a criminal record and child certificate. According to the law, employment can only begin once the municipality has received a satisfactory criminal record and child certificate. We must therefore point out that the start date can only be agreed upon once the municipality has received the child certificate from the national police as well as the criminal record from the police.

The child certificate is obtained by the municipality with the consent of the individual, while the criminal record is obtained by the individual from the police.

Salary and employment conditions:

Salary and employment conditions are in accordance with the applicable agreement between the Government of Greenland, according to the agreement/collective agreement in force at the time of appointment between the Government of Greenland and the relevant negotiating organization.

The employment will be subject to a 3-month probation period.

Employment:

If you are a civil servant today, you have the opportunity to continue as a civil servant according to the applicable rules and agreements with us. In the case of collective agreement employment, the probation period is 1 year. Both in collective agreement employment and civil servant employment, earned salary seniority is counted after passing the teacher examination. Employment occurs as a civil servant or according to the "Collective Agreement between the Naalakkersuisut and IMAK for teachers in primary schools, etc."

Fixed-term employment:

You will be employed on special fixed-term conditions according to the agreement of February 16, 2007, regarding employment on special fixed-term conditions. A non-pensionable severance amount of DKK 18,000.00 is also provided as an annual base amount per April 1, 1991, for every 12 months of employment. The amount is adjusted as special supplements and amounts to DKK 20,253.67 annually as of April 1, 2017. The severance amount is paid monthly along with the salary and is deposited into a blocked account in a Greenlandic financial institution.

Induction trip:

Upon employment, a free relocation trip is provided for the employee and their family, and earliest after 3 years, a corresponding departure trip, as well as relocation compensation according to applicable regulations.

For both types of employment, the employee is covered by a separate agreement on group life insurance.

Housing:

Housing can be provided for the position, for which a deposit and rent, utilities, etc. will be paid according to the applicable rules for rent payment in the Greenland Self-Government and the municipality's properties in Greenland. If a permanent staff housing cannot be made available immediately upon commencement, employees entitled to temporary housing will be offered a temporary rental housing, for which rent, utilities, etc. will be paid according to the above. The start date is dependent on when a staff housing is available. A relocation travel allowance and moving expenses for personal belongings are provided in accordance with applicable regulations.
