Special Consultant for the Future's Digital Infrastructure

Greenland's Self-Government is seeking a technically strong special consultant for the Telecommunications Authority. You will work with critical infrastructure, strategic advice, oversight and regulation, as well as project management. The position requires an academic degree in IT and experience from the IT industry. You will have significant influence and work closely with the political level.

Are you our new special consultant for the future digital infrastructure in Greenland? Do you want to work with critical infrastructure in a country that has the attention of the whole world? The Telecommunications Authority in Greenland is looking for a technically strong and strategically grounded special consultant who can navigate complex IT projects and legislation.

About the position

As a special consultant at the Danish Telecommunications Agency, you will be part of a small but central organization with a significant responsibility. We oversee the telecommunications and radio sectors and ensure that networks and services support Greenlandic society – from the largest cities to the most remote settlements. As an employee, you will be part of the administrative engine room where political decisions become reality. You will work closely with the political level of the Naalakkersuisut and contribute directly to decision-making bases, legislation, and strategic choices, where there is a short distance between analysis and action – and your work will be felt in both cities, settlements, and international collaborations.

  • Your primary work tasks will include: Strategic consulting: You will be a technical sparring partner on issues related to digital infrastructure, including networks and security.
  • Supervision and regulation: Monitoring of market conditions as well as technical control of compliance with concessions and legislation.
  • Project management and coordination: Driving force in cross-cutting digitalization projects and implementation of new technical standards (e.g., in security and internal systems).
  • International cooperation: Participation in Nordic and international forums, where you represent Greenland's interests in the telecommunications sector.
  • Preparation of analyses, notes, and solution proposals
  • Ongoing identification of new challenges and opportunities

The tasks are complex, politically sensitive, and socially critical – and precisely for that reason, professionally challenging and meaningful.

Who are you?

We imagine that you have a relevant academic education in IT combined with solid experience from the IT industry or a regulatory authority.

  • We emphasize that you: Have a deep understanding of IT architecture, network technologies, and security protocols.
  • Has experience with programming.
  • Is analytically strong and able to translate complex technical issues into easily understandable decision proposals.
  • Works in a structured manner and thrives on taking ownership of your own areas of responsibility.
  • Has good communication skills in Danish and English (knowledge of Greenlandic is a great advantage, but not a requirement).
  • Motivated by contributing to societal development, politics, and responsibility.
  • Can work in a structured manner in a changing and politically governed everyday life.
  • Can convey complex issues clearly and precisely.
  • Want to work at the intersection of law, politics, and practice.

What do we offer?

A unique opportunity to make a significant difference in a society undergoing digital development.

  • You get: A job in the heart of the world's hotspot
  • A daily life with significant influence and short decision-making paths of great societal and political importance.
  • Professional challenges where technology meets politics and law.
  • A strong professional environment with dedicated colleagues
  • A workplace with a fast pace, high ambitions, and high ceilings.
