Therefore, we are looking for an experienced and decisive IT manager who can lead both stable operations, secure development, and strategic direction.

About the position

  • As the IT manager, you will have overall responsibility for the IT department in the Central Administration. The department consists of 11 permanent employees and 3 trainees distributed across several functions: IT support with 1 team leader, 6 IT supporters, and 3 IT support trainees.
  • Application support with 1 Product Owner and 1 application supporter
  • 2 IT consultants

You will be responsible for the overall management of the area, including operations, support, development, prioritization, security, vendor management, and strategic planning. The role requires you to both set a clear direction and ensure that it is translated into concrete results in everyday life.

You will become a central partner for both management, system owners, and external suppliers. This requires a strong understanding of the organization, good communication skills, and an eye for how IT best supports the organization's needs.

It is a requirement for employment in the position that you can be security cleared, and you must be able to maintain the security clearance throughout your employment.

Your most important tasks

  • As IT manager, you will be responsible for ensuring a stable, secure, and well-functioning IT operation with a high user experience and clear service deliveries.
  • Lead and develop the IT department both professionally and organizationally, including creating structure, prioritization, and clear frameworks for the employees.
  • Set direction for the IT area and translate strategy into concrete priorities, initiatives, and results.
  • Ensure mature incident, change, and problem management based on ITIL principles.
  • Drive and prioritize IT projects and security initiatives in close collaboration with management, system owners, and suppliers.
  • Collaborate and contribute to a well-functioning system owner and system administrator organization in the department and in the central administration.
  • Manage professional supplier management, including expectation alignment, follow-up, and ensuring quality in deliveries.
  • Advise management and professional areas on IT-related opportunities, consequences, and priorities.

Who are you?

We imagine that you have a relevant higher education in IT with solid experience in leading an IT area where both operations, development, and collaboration with the business are central elements.

  • We place particular emphasis on: Documented experience in managing IT operations, support, and/or application management
  • Experience in translating strategy into operations, structure, and concrete priorities
  • Experience with supplier management and follow-up on external partners.
  • Experience with IT project management and implementation of changes
  • Knowledge of ITIL and preferably an understanding of enterprise architecture and governance.
  • Experience with information security and working with stable and secure IT deliveries
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to convey complex IT matters clearly to both management, employees, and partners.

  • Has an eye for both people, operations, and strategic goals
  • Takes responsibility and has good collaboration skills, ensuring coherence between the organization's needs and the IT department's deliveries.

Employment conditions

The position is currently salary-fixed corresponding to 38. The salary with fixed salary components and personal contribution to pension in LR 38 amounts to DKK 64,048 monthly and DKK 768,576 annually as of April 1, 2026.

Initially, employment will be based on collective agreement terms; however, if the applicant is already a civil servant under the civil service laws for the public Greenland, employment may occur under civil servant terms.

For the position, there is no maximum length of service established, and the provisions regarding compensation for overtime and the provisions regarding compensation for lost days off do not apply; the working hours are initially 40 hours per week.

Salary and employment conditions, including the right to relocation and moving expenses, in accordance with the collective agreement in force at the time of commencement between the Government of Greenland and the relevant negotiating organization.

Housing

No staff housing is provided for the position. If an applicant already has staff housing through employment in the Self-Government, the right to the assigned staff housing is retained. The staff housing is linked to the employment relationship and must be vacated upon the termination of the employment relationship.
