Qinngorneq is seeking a psychotherapist/psychologist for a maternity cover in Nuuk. Qinngorneq is looking for a psychotherapist/psychologist for a maternity leave position in Nuuk at the new National Center for Therapy and Counseling. Are you passionate about helping young and adult people? Do you want to make a real difference for Greenlandic students during an important period of their lives? We are seeking a psychologist or psychotherapist for a maternity leave position in Qinngorneq in Nuuk starting in August or September 2026. The position is expected to last approximately 12 months. Your tasks will primarily consist of psychotherapeutic sessions with students as well as participation in projects aimed at improving completion rates in education and increasing well-being among students.
About Qinngorneq
Qinngorneq is a public and free service for students and has existed since 2014. We recently became part of Inulerivik - a new National Center for Therapy and Counseling, established on October 1, 2025. This means that Qinngorneq is also part of a larger psychological community focused on knowledge sharing, solidarity, and collaboration.
We consist of five departments with 12 employees distributed in Ilulissat, Aasiaat, Sisimiut, Nuuk, and Qaqortoq, where all employees report to the chief psychologist.

Work tasks
As a psychotherapist/psychologist at Qinngorneq, your primary task will be to manage individual psychotherapeutic processes with students, with the possibility of starting group sessions. Additionally, there is an opportunity to shape the position through the development and initiation of projects that support our primary goal of promoting the completion of education and increasing well-being among students.
We continuously focus on developing our offerings. Therefore, we emphasize that you are eager to be creative and think outside the box regarding the implementation of initiatives. In this regard, networking meetings are regularly held with our local partners.
The position also involves the opportunity to travel for work, where you represent Qinngorneq to both partners and students. The majority of clients come for interviews at their local office, and we also offer online consultations with students who do not reside in a city with a local office.
Working conditions and professionalism
We are a workplace that values community and well-being highly. Therefore, we have developed clear guidelines for the framework of therapy, which protects our employees from burnout and ensures a consistently high quality of psychotherapy. This means, among other things, that one should only have 20 active clients at a time, and that it is not expected to have more than 3 psychotherapeutic sessions per day. In addition, we have of course allocated time for both training and supervision during working hours.
To maintain the sense of community in our fantastic team, we have established regular meeting agreements for internal knowledge sharing, internal supervision, a book club, and well-being time. In addition, the entire team meets across Greenland for gatherings where we work on the development of the organization and go on a staff outing together. Once a year, each department also goes on a staff outing together.

Salary and employment conditions
Salary and employment conditions, including the right to relocation travel and moving expenses, in accordance with the agreement/collective agreement in force at the time of commencement between the Government of Greenland and the relevant negotiating organization.
For an applicant with the right documentable skills, employment as a special consultant, chief consultant, or senior advisor can occur in accordance with the applicable collective agreement.
Housing
No staff housing is provided for the position. If an applicant already has staff housing through employment in the Self-Government, the right to the assigned staff housing is retained. The staff housing is linked to the employment relationship and must be vacated upon termination of the employment relationship.
